Good evening, everyone. We have a weak cold front finally dropping in across the bluegrass state. This will usher in a seasonal brand of chill for the next few days. If you’re looking for a much more active weather pattern, mother nature is trying to cook one up for you early next week.

In the short term, it’s pretty darn boring. Temps come down into the mid and upper 30s for highs Thursday into Friday. Just like always, the south and west will be warmer with readings from 40-45. There’s a small chance for some snowflakes to fly at some point on Friday.

Super Bowl Weekend continues to look pretty good to start, with the potential for some light stuff on Sunday. That light stuff is looking weaker and weaker, but some light rain and snow mix is possible early on.

The reason that system is so much weaker is because the storm behind it is coming in quicker and stronger. Heavy rains may break out on Monday before we get high winds and thunderstorms to sweep in here for Tuesday. As the powerhouse storm goes by, temps crash with some wraparound snows possible Wednesday.

That’s a pretty wicked looking system that can be a big wind maker for a lot of people. Here’s a different look at the same storm by Wednesday morning…

So, it’s possible for us to go from thunderstorms to some snow within a 24 hour period with a surge of arctic air moving in for the rest of the week. Yippee? 🙁

BTW, after all that, we may go through the whole process yet again.

Enjoy your evening and take care.
