Good Super Bowl Sunday, everyone. We have a powerhouse of a storm system taking shape to our west over the next few days. That storm will then rumble our way by Tuesday and Wednesday, and give us a pretty wild weather ride.
Our “super” Sunday starts with a weak system moving across the region. This may have a touch of light rain and light snow this morning, but it’s not a big deal at all.
Afternoon temps will take off and reach the middle 40s to low 50sĀ for most of the state.
With our storm coming together to our west on Monday, temps will surge well into the 50s as winds become southwesterly. That will lead to an increase in showers and thunderstorms. As that action ramps up by Monday night, some of the storms in the west could be on the strong side…
High winds will be very possible on Tuesday as thermometers head toward 60 or better. Those winds are just ahead of our storm system working into the northern Ohio Valley and Great Lakes.
Showers and thunderstorms will be common and we run the risk for a few strong or severe storms.
As the front slams through here Tuesday night, temps drop like a rock. Readings by Wednesday morning will hit the 20s with the potential for some wraparound snowflakes early in the day. The models now have a new twist to late Wednesday and Thursday with a slightly deeper system. Here’s the GFS…
The European Model is stronger…
Obviously, that scenario would give us a better shot at snow.
Given that there extreme is the new normal now with weather, temps by later Friday into Saturday may very well hit the 60s again as winds crank from the southwest. This could help introduce another round of strong storms as a powerful cold front drops back in…
Temps drop like a rock behind that.
I will update things later today, so check back. Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
Just looks like we are going to have a very unsettled spring coming up in the Ohio Valley.
Hard to believe today marks nine quick years since the Super Tuesday tornadoes. This outbreak, which continued into the early hours of the next morning, led to 55 people losing their lives……including 37 in Kentucky and Tennessee. I was in my senior year at WKU and some of the twisters were not far from Bowling Green including near Scottsville and Central City as well as in north central Tennessee.
Here’s CB marking the fifth anniversary.

Starting out at 44 already this morning.
For someone who suffers from migraines triggered by barometric pressure changes, I have to say that I’m reallllly tired of this pattern.
Amen to that. This has been the worst winter I can remember… and this is usually the time of year I get at least a little bit of a break. Ugh. Just… ugh.
I think any big snow chances are out the window for this winter.
Looks like the Cats are in the same erratic pattern. Would not have expected almost no snow and maybe the Cats not making the tournament at the pace their on. Surprised on both counts.
HANG ON
Happy national weather persons day Chris. What would we do without you??

Great day out today. Let’s just skip these skimpy backside snows and get more days like today. Bring spring.
