Good Tuesday, everyone. We have the potential for strong to, locally, severe thunderstorms to impact the bluegrass state today. This action is part of a very active weather pattern that continues to feature a nice little fight between winter and spring.
Today’s storms will come at us from southwest to northeast and bring the potential for damaging winds and hail. Can we get a brief tornado spin up? Yes, but the odds are pretty low. Here are the tracking toys for the day…
Wednesday will feature a much different setup with colder air surging in from northwest to southeast. That sets the stage for a mega temp gradient along this boundary with 60s southeast and 30s west. The colder air wins the battle as another area of low pressure works through here with rain and the chance for snow.
There could be a stripe of snow showing up by Wednesday night. Depending on how strong the wave is, some of that could stick…
After a cold day on Thursday, a massive warm up moves in for Friday into the weekend. Temps surge again ahead of another cold front. That front will bring the threat for showers and thunderstorms to our region as a trough digs in behind it. That trough leaves a big piece of upper level energy in the southwest.
The models continue to eject that out next week and merge it with a system diving in from the northwest. The GFS does this…
We shall see.
I will update things later today. Make it a good one and take care.
Thunder and Lighting now Jackson. Ohio.
One of Rodger’s favorite songs is by the Who – We Won’t Get Fooled Again! Rodger in Dodger
Bahahahahahahah….really GFS.
That’s the GFS being accurately consistent on showing a fantasy Ohio Valley snowstorm (GFS been showing fantasy snowstorms all winter) it’ll be gone later on today.
I certainly agree on that statement.
Cincinnati Mets say we’ll get snow Wednesday night, but the ground is too warm for any of it to accumulate. 41 days ’til spring.
Dis winter been 2 muuuuch.
It’s storming in BG this morning! Lots of streaky lightening! have a great day everyone!!
BIg winter storm “next week”…The 00Z GFS giveth, and the 06Z taketh away.
HAHAHAHAHA
and now…. the 12Z “almost” completely erases its insanity. lol
Thanks Chris. Morning everyone. Looking at the radar I think we will all likely see storms today. Hope everyone is safe and stays tuned to Chris for updates. Looks like the faucet is open wide for today from the southwest. Stay alert! Would really like to see that be a good snow.. Maybe if we act like we don’t SEE that model of the GFS, it will bring it and think it is fooling us until the last minute! 😉 That’s my theory, and I’m gonna stick with it! ;D . Have a great Tuesday everyone.
Too funny! Maybe the old reverse psychology will work? LOL
I’ve being told that the farmers almanac is giving a big snow in a week or so. I’ve not seen that for myself, but you don’t never know what Will happen
You know ,it will be 24 years this March that the big snow came in eastern KY …30 something inches and I don’t know that it got below freezing none of the time …
Seems like I remember it being sunny and 65 one day, and 2 feet of snow the next….
#TeamGFS
Who’s with me.
The Farmers almanac predicted a Ohio Valley/Tennessee Valley snow storm for the 15th-17th. Maybe we will get lucky.
So any more chances of snow this winter that you can see?
Hee Haw sums up this winter so far…LOL
Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me
And all the snow lovers…..
WOAH!
Bring on spring and gardens.
So long wnter.. we hardly knew ya.
Saying that will not make it get here any faster.
Another deep thought by Jack Handy…haha.
Winter had a fork in it a long time ago, per that annoying yawn meter, but it was right
Your arrogance is hilarious.
Dude, I cant speak for you or your area as I do not know where you live, but Spring has indeed been here since January for some of us (sure with a very few cold days thrown in for good measure)…that is a fact and just because you do not agree does not make it untrue…
It’s not spring yet. Sorry if facts hurt.
Bring on the rolo coaster
Until then it’s spring. Ust hasn’t been made official by the calendar yet, will be confirmed sometime in march .
Arrogance??? Haha, Did you laugh Hamlin?haha, now that would be a newsmaker.
What winter!!!!
Wired will rear its ugly gear before it’s all over said and done….just when we think it’s over ❄️U will see….
Winter
It was supposed to be super windy I thought but it doesn’t seem horribly windy at all. We’ve had a lot of rain though.
I have had Only .08 of rain so far
Agreed, not much wind….???
The farmers almanac also predicted above average snowfall for the Ohio Valley. We stand at approx. 10 inches short of average, in Lou., going to need a couple big ones to get above average.
Big storm next week will be in the form of Rain. I also believe we will have a couple more cold weeks before said and done. Just no precipitation to go along with the cold. Winter not over by a long shot, but the snow is.
Thelma Lou likes her some almanac & it did predict a cold & snowy winter for this part of the world. What I’ve noticed over the past 3 or 4 years is that we have been getting the exact opposite of what its overall winter prediction shows. Will keep that in mind come October.
