Good Friday, everyone. We’ve made it to the weekend and we have another spring fling sweeping back in for the weekend. In the true fashion of this winter, it’s not going to last long with much colder air moving back in by Monday. This can lead us into a wilder scenario.
Highs today will warm quickly into the 50s as winds become southwesterly. Temps can make a run at 60 in the west.
Moisture will rapidly increase by early Saturday, leading to clouds and scattered showers. Showers become more numerous by Saturday evening as a wave of low pressure moves across the Ohio Valley. That drags a cold front across the state on Sunday…
Temps during this time will take off… then crash. Readings on Saturday make a run at 60 degrees, then rise into the low 60s Saturday night. That’s right, temps climb into the low 60s overnight. Those numbers will then drop quickly from northwest to southeast on Sunday, winding up in the 20s by Monday morning…
Starting today, winds are going to be very gusty and could reach 35mph at times through Sunday.
The setup for the middle of next week still finds a southern piece of energy trying to hook up with a system diving in from the northwest. The European Model is still getting these two together too far to our east…
I will have another update later today. Have a great Friday and take care.
No bullseye next week.
The frustration carries on.
Seems for this winter it is complete and nothing to carry on. Lowest snow total evah’ for Kentucky. Well, for the years I have been here anyway. Everything is relative 🙂
Cough cough, northwest shift? Cough cough
We should have done a betting line for no snow threat modes. I bet most would have bet there would be at least one. Shoot, the snow chances were so lame it never really entered CB’s thoughts on posts, yet alone a post with threat mode as a theme.
Too far east, wouldnt help. Just not going to happen for KY
Sorry folks, winter is essentially over. Here’s to Spring! Hopefully an active one too since winter has been a wash!
Thanks CB for your updates!
What happen to this back loaded winter that was talked about we are at just over 6 inches on the season for cincy one of the top 5 lowest on a season if nothing happens these weak la ninas dont give us much just like 2011 2012 winter
miscalculated
That is about six times more than most of Kentucky, so you guys are the high bar 😉
Yep, seems CB and the other mets missed the outlook for snow. Then again, two winters in a row with big snow and then nothing this winter. Wild.
We only have .7″ for the season in Bowling Green.
After two winters in a row each featuring more than 20″ there was bound to be a winter like this one to get BG back toward it’s average of 8″ per season. Bowling Green’s all time record for a single storm happened the first week of March in the early 1960’s when they had more than 2 feet from a single storm. The biggest snow of the season happens the very beginning of March there quite often in recent history, too, so maybe that will be the case again this year, yet.
There is still time. Not giving up hope. If we end up with no more snow, then we look towards spring. I think no one is more disappointed at this point than CB with nothing to track, and no threat modes. Never give up hope.
Still .7″ snow for Nashville as well.
Memphis had that overachiever a few weeks ago and thus has two to three inches snow so far (exactly two inches officially, northern parts of town even more) but Memphis only averages about 4 inches each season.
Anyone see the latest Euro run? Basically, it phases (or gets pretty close) up the s/w ejecting out of the southwest with the northern energy leading to a stronger, tighter system. Granted, it still might be too far east of here when all is said and done, but the western trend is a positive sign. IF the run is taken verbatim, phasing begins to occur of Tennessee which is favorable for eastern Ohio valley residents. CB knows more so I’ll let him take over the commentary, but I think next system’s is worth tracking at this point which may be what we need to steer us away from the ‘whoa is me’ mentality on here.
Have to go with the Euro Seems like the GFS has a hard time when 2 streams are involved..NW side should see some snow..Anyways something to look at and hope..
It would be nice to have at least one big snow this winter. At my house in southern indiana, we have had under 1 inch of snow. This is the least amount of snow I can remember in my 55 years of watching Ohio Valley weather.
In the meantime, Denver, CO set a February record with an 80°F high today.
