Good Sunday, everyone. Our clocks have sprung forward, but our weather has decided to fall back. The overall pattern for the next week is something you would normally see during a harsh period of winter weather in January. Well, it’s March and Mother Nature is just messing with us at this point.
Today will feature temps in the 40s for afternoon highs with a mix of sun and clouds.
Our next system quickly approaches the region on Monday with gusty rains on the increase. This is a system zipping across the Ohio Valley and trying to hook up with a storm across the east coast. As the OV system passes through, much colder air filters in by Monday evening with snow showers and squalls taking over…
That action carries us through Tuesday night as a massive winter storm comes together along the east coast…
Some light accumulations will be possible during this time.
The cold coming in behind this is brutal for this time of year. Highs may not get to freezing on Wednesday with lows deep into the teens Wednesday and Thursday…
Another ugly weather maker then makes a run at us later in the week into next weekend.
This is about as ugly as the pattern can get for this time of year.
Have a great Sunday and take care.
Im all for upper 70s at this point.
My 1/2 inch of total snowfall is holding strong…
Your total for the year? If it is? Don’t look for it change any time soon.
Yep – total for the year…
I think that is most in KY. The stuff that does not accumulate does not count.
Hey, Then my season total of 1/2 inch total might be winning!
We’re at 8.9″ at CVG in Northern KY but that’s insanely terrible for us with an AVG around 22″-23″ per year. 🙁
when did we get that much? I only remember it snowing twice the entire winter and it barely accumulated over an inch each time in northern ky.
That is surprising to me. I live in Covington and have maybe gotten a total of an inch of accumulation this entire season.
What is more frustrating now is the fact we are way under the average annual snowfall and should be ready for Spring but the problem is this: We have literally had three months of March already and now it is almost seems like we should be getting close to summer weather nut instead are finally getting winter temps without the precip:( The only thing that could be worse if we end up going the other direction in April and May with below average temps; thus, we will end up having two more miserable months of March…sigh!
“…Weather but…” LOL!
Nashville TN got .6 inch snow yesterday morning, Nashville’s seasonal snow total is now a whopping…….. 1.3 inches 😉 .
This compared to 8 inches Nashville got in one storm last season. Eight inches is about Nashville’s seasonal average.
Thats about an inch more total than 95% ofthe state of KY. lol
Nothing yesterday in Knoxville…Just flurries.
Yeah, I think that’s wrong. Not sure how .16″ QPF with temp & dewpts under 32 equates to only 0.6″. Either way, I live 20 minutes west of Nashville and recorded 3″ yesteday on the roof of my car. Granted, it all melted within 8 hours.
In a nut shell, the weather will be mostly clear to cloudy with very little chance of rain through next week. Cold weather will be around till Thursday, then warming by weeks end. Have a great Sunday.
I like that warming up at the end of the week.
You are right. Another 2 or 3 day dry cold spell then back to the same old, same old. I hope this is Winters parting shot hopefully it will be as short and weak as all the others we’re.
I think there’s a dome over the state of ky blocking the snow out lol
In like a lamb out like a lion this year apparently.
March came in “like a lion”.
So last system stays south due to Canadian high pressure being too strong, now the high pressure drifts east and allows the low to move right on top of us. Pretty much the story of Winter 2017. Can’t win for losing. I’d did receive 2.1 inches for the year so I kinda feel like a champ, relatively speaking. I live in Southern Indiana btw..
So tired of saying ” wait till next week”, that I’m over it already!!
At least some snow lovers in west Tennessee got to cheer a little….

While the cold/snowy conditions have put severe wx on the shelf for the time being, still plenty of Skywarn c-l-a-s-s-e-s going on for new and veteran storm spotters, including online sessions. Check the website of your NWS office. For example,
NWS Paducah:

NWS Jackson KY:

I just looked up Lexington Airport and the seasonal snow total is 3.4 inches. Sigh
Louisville is at 2.7 inches of snow for the season.
I got 2.9″ at my house 😀
.7″ In Bowling Greem.
Maybe we will have some surprise snow over the next few days.
