Good Friday, everyone. Today is shaping up to be a pretty ugly weather day across the bluegrass state, but it’s a day we must sacrifice in order to begin to crank up the temps. Milder air is slowly but surely pushing back in, with the potential for some downright warm spells lurking over the next few weeks.
Temps early this morning will be tricky for parts of central and northern Kentucky. This may lead to a brief period of light frozen precipitation before plain old showers take over…

Temps will climb pretty much all day and may hit 50 by the evening hours. Winds will be a little gusty as well.
As our front settles through here on Saturday, colder air filters into the region. The NAM afternoon temps show some upper 30s across the north and east…
That may be partly due to some clouds and scattered showers lingering. Can the mountains get in on a snowflake or two? Maybe.
Sunday turns much milder with highs in the 50s for many, with low 60s in the west. Monday will see temps deep into the 60s with some low 70s also showing up.
A weak cold front moves in Monday night and Tuesday with a band of showers and thunderstorms. That front never quite clears the region, but does knock the temps down several degrees by the middle of the week.
Warmer air is poised then to surge in here after that…
Temps can really take off late next week into the following weekend. It may also be complete with some strong thunderstorms during this time.
The increase in temps should also lead to an increase in the thunderstorm action over the next few weeks. The Ensembles continue to show some good rains across our part of the world…
Have a great day and take care.
I’m kinda bummed that spring is arriving – Only because I like all seasons, and since we didn’t really have winter, I feel like something is missing now that we are headed into spring. Like we had summer, fall, spring – I loved the days where we had high temps in the 50s and sunny though. Open all the windows airing out everything, breeze blowing through the house. Felt so good. Hopefully this summer won’t be too scorching hot and not too much severe weather. Thunderstorms yes (I like those) but just not 80mph straight line winds making you feel like your roof will be lifted off your house at any moment.
I agree!
I tried all day yesterday to post my message but never could….does anyone know why ever now and then what causes a post to not go through? If I pasted my copied post yesterday, the website then would give the “duplicate message error.” I would then try and change the wording but still could not post; this has happened before but only ever so often. What causes this???
Well anyways in a nutshell I tried to comment:…it was 13 yesterday in Harlan; everything is dead…it stinks…let us move on to warm and stormy weather minus the damaging severe storms!
The last several times I have tried to post it just says, “your comment is awaiting moderation”, and then never posts! Not sure what the deal is!
It is strange for sure…your post was not visible on here until this evening as I had last checked the blog around 3 PM…
NOAA weather outlook for April, May and June is for the lower mid west to experience above normal temperatures and equal chances for precipitation. I believe this will be the the case.
Thanks Chris. I am not really a fan of the cloudiness we seem to be stuck in, but I will take the warmer temps. I am just worried that we are getting into a very wet or cool or both spring and summer. I would just like for the seasons to behave and act like the right season. I saw a few comments up that someone else is like me and would like each season to show up and be normal. I love something about all of them. That being said, we will take what we get and move on. Happy Friday everyone. Have a great day! And GO CATS!!
Here in Southern Ohio we have had Snow Sleet Hail Thunder Lighting Rain. If this is the start to severe weather. Then we really got it going today.
We had some pretty goid snow showers abt 11 today then abt 7pm it is 37 deg and we had Thunder and lightening , rain/hail and wind. Crazy March weather.
