Good Sunday to one and all. Our weekend is wrapping up on a very nice note out there today as warmer temps and some sun take over. This blast of nice is one and done, as showers and thunderstorms rumble back in for Monday. This kicks off another bumpy week of weather across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Temps today range from the upper 60s to low 70s with partly sunny skies. Clouds will increase this evening with the potential for a few showers and storms getting into western parts of the sate. That action is ahead of another potent storm system pushing in here for Monday and early Tuesday.

Rounds of showers and storms will then sweep across the region during this time…

Some areas can pick up 1″ of rain and we will have to watch for a few strong storms, especially across our southern counties. The best risk for severe weather is to our south, but it may try to sneak a littler farther north.

We will need to keep an eye on Wednesday for the potential for a line of strong to severe storms racing across the state. The setup features a strong storm rolling into the Ohio Valley, with VERY cold air coming in behind it. The models are showing a negatively tilted storm system…

If that’s the case, it would lead to a potentially greater severe weather risk around here.

Once that passes through here, things get ugly in a hurry. Cold northwesterly winds kick in as wraparound moisture takes over later Thursday into Friday. While this should mainly be in the form of rain, there’s a chance to see some flakes…

That moves away pretty quickly, with warmer air returning late next weekend into early the following week. But, you can already see another shot of colder than normal air pushing into the plains states…

You know what that suggests? If you guessed additional big storm systems and potential severe weather, give yourself a cookie. 🙂

Make it a great day and take care.
