Good Friday to one and all. Today is another ugly looking Friday, but much better weather is on the way for the weekend. This setup will then lead us into a pattern that will feature a blast of early season heat and humidity rolling in next week.
Highs today will be all over the place as gusty showers roll through here. The best chance for rain is across the central and eastern part of the state, with some decent rain totals possible. This could lead to a few high water issues…
The rain will then move away from us overnight, with nice stuff moving back in for Saturday. Some fog in the morning will give way to sunshine and temps in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Mother’s Day looks even better with sunny skies and temps nearing 80 for many across the Commonwealth. This will set the stage for a big ridge of high pressure to control the weather across the eastern part of the country…
That should lead to hot weather for this area and for many in the east and southeast. Temps by the middle of the weak may make a run at 90…
Some storms could try to crash the party by the end of next week, but the heat may be tough to beat. Check out the highs by next weekend…
The warmer this pattern gets, the better the chance for our severe weather season to crank, especially with deep troughs digging into the west and Mississippi Valley.
Have a great day and take care.
I’m starting to sweat just reading this. Ha! Ha!
Thanks Chris, I don’t plant a garden anymore, but if you have tomatoes already in the ground, they will flourish with the increase in the heating degree days coming up next week. I hope we will get some cooler, less humid periods to balance out the heat this summer. Have a great Friday.
So the forecast for an ugly cold May has changed? Or will we see the ugly weather come back toward the end of May?
We are in the middle of May and it’s been a very ugly month to date. This doesn’t mean you won’t have some nice weather, but the overall theme of the month isn’t pretty.
Thanks Chris.
Gotta love trolls.
Yes we love ya Jeff
I am not a troll, ya goof.
Well so much for a cool May..
The first weeks of May are averaging 4 to 8 degrees colder than normal across the state. 😉
False, Matt
The month of May has been craptastic as far as the weather goes, so I’m looking very much forward to next week’s “mater ‘n tater growin'” weather.
Holy moly, I can’t believe people are coming in here to complain about the temperatures?? ITS MAY!!! Next month is the first month of meteorological Summer. Its not supposed to be cool… I personally welcome the 90s… With open arms!!

Chris is right on, frost was in my hood last week at least to mornings, so May has been very chilled so far.
