Good Saturday, everyone. Much better weather is blowing into the state today and this is going to stick around for a while. In the process, temps are going to surge toward summertime readings. Is this a true start to a toasty summer? Probably not. 🙂
We could actually use the dry and toasty temps, as the bluegrass state is pretty wet. Much of the area picked up a general 1″-3″ of rain just in the past week. And you guys doubted the rainfall forecasts. 😉
Today will feature skies becoming mostly sunny with highs reaching the low 70s in many areas. Mother’s Day looks even better with highs around 80 as clear skies roll on.
Summertime temps then roll in here for next week with highs in the middle and upper 80s from Monday-Thursday. That takes us into a pattern that will throw some thunderstorms our way…
We will still keep the toast temps and high humidity, just with some storms floating around.
The upstairs pattern is not locking in by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, it looks pretty progressive for the following week…
The progressive look suggests rounds of rain and storms will be returning to the region and the Ensembles show that well…
Make it a great Saturday and take care.
Should I plant tomatoes this weekend, or should I wait? Do you think temps will remain above 50 degrees for lows? Don’t want to stunt growth.
Thanks Chris, we had a good soaking rain yesterday and reasonable temperatures. Glad to read in your blog that the summer time pattern will not become lock in next week. To tell you the truth, I’am ready for winter to begin, I hate hot weather. Everyone, enjoy this beautiful weekend.
I’m not! I have no none zero zip nadda desire to skip summer and fall to get to winter. Time goes by way to fast, take one day at a time and enjoy the summer and fall months.
Agreed! I find joy in all seasons, though Spring and Summer are preferred.
Bubba was still correct in his observation on rain fall misses, the last 48 hours of weather don’t change what happened in the past. It would be cool to see a discussion of what’s been going on to that end from the science perspective.
If one refers to the weather models, these are not intended to show exactly how much rain will fall at one specific location, even though my local mets will try and show me from 3 different models how much I can expect. That’s 3 tries to get the ring around the bottle, in my opinion. The weather models should show us a best approximation where the greatest moisture and rainfall will be present. I thought the weather models handled the flooding rains a couple of weeks ago pretty well. Sure, it looked like Arkansas would get the brunt of it, but as time went by, it became more apparent where this warm frontal boundary would set up, like Missouri into Indiana. In fact, the weather models actually undercut some of what I thought was exaggerated forecasts. If people were concerned with location-specific totals, then perhaps they weren’t in the highest probability of where the greatest concentration of moisture and rainfall would be present anyway.
Plant your tomatoes next weekend. The soil should be warm enough to start rooting. Good luck on your gardening.
We already have 70 + plants out and they are doing great. I did cheat and buy a bush and it already has 5+ tomatoes on it. 😀
Tomatoes are such a good and versatile fruit.
