Good Wednesday, everyone. Our run of summertime temperatures continues across the region, but steam and storms will eventually join the party. This will lead to an increase in storms over the weekend, with the potential for some more ugly weather showing up next week.
Isolated storms develop Thursday with better coverage of the storms showing up on Friday…
Any storm that goes up can be on the strong side with locally heavy rains. The same can be said for Saturday, before a big ramp of or shower and storm chances for Sunday. This happens as a cold front moves in from the west and interacts with a batch of moisture surging northward from the Gulf of Mexico…
Strong storms and heavy rains will be a good possibility during this time.
Temps come down behind this front, but a bigger push of cool air moves in for the middle and end of next week. This may be accompanied by another slow-moving upper level system…
That’s ugly and could produce more rounds of heavy rains…
On a side note, I recently got a chance to hang out with a special young man who uses this blog to keep his school informed about the weather. He puts together a daily weather briefing and loves every minute of it. Click on the link below to see our meeting…
I put a lot of time and effort into this blog, but people like Michael make it all worth while! 🙂
Have a great day and take care.
Chris, your hard work shows, and is very much appreciated! As a lifelong “amateur meteorologist” and SkyWarn member, I especially enjoy how you take the time to educate, by sharing the tools you use to formulate a forecast. And your time stamps show quite clearly how devoted you are to your craft!! Even though I am not in your immediate viewing area, your blog never fails to be the FIRST place I go for weather information!
Thanks from this confirmed “weather weenie”!!
Sounds like we gonna get quiet a bit o f rain over next a few days, especially Sunday.
I’ll rock metallica for y’all chris, that type of music and what is played on z-rock 103.3 and wtf 97.7 is more my style of music (I Had comment on that closing segment from last night, I got a laugh outta you saying you would rock some metallica for few days after everyone else wasn’t really into metallica )
Thanks chris for all you do for us, and thats awesome a teacher uses the blog help with his weather stuff for his school. How cool is that!
The air conditioning does not work at my job, so Monday’s temps are welcomed, hahahaha!
Thanks Chris, for being a meteorologist and most of all an educator. Really, enjoyed the video. This inspires young people to pursue this most interesting occupation. Have a great day.
Little D at Scott County High is constantly looking at the blog also. What does Chris say about rain today? Can I mow tonight? What about next week?
Now for the big question? 10 days out, SCHS graduates seniors. The ceremony is indoors, but his party is outdoors. The trend looks ugly. Any guess this far out on a temp/rain chance?
Shout out and thumbs up to Michael (who may or may not read the comments), and to Chris for taking time out to see him. Chris, thank you for being vulnerable enough to give us a peek into how “musings about what the weather might be” gradually are shaped into a forecast for the air that people depend on. We know this blog isn’t the forecast…this blog is a great view into the process that goes into making a forecast, and I don’t think people realize how special that is.
Cool temperatures will arrive just as our neighborhood pool opens for the season. The kids will be excited none the less.
Awesome Michael! You keep it up, Chris isn’t getting any younger and neither is Jim! You are good company. ☺☺
Thanks Chris! Hats off to Michael! That’s great! Of course, I am reading this blog each day and watching you and the team every evening on the news. So, like Joe Derosa, this blog is the first place I go to each day to see what’s going on. I appreciate all you do for us. From another true “weather weenie”
I had a blast to meet Chris Bailey, and Jim Caldwell. Thanks machell, and Jamie.
And coffeelady.
