Good Thursday, everyone. Our very active weather pattern shows no signs of slowing down with more showers out there today, and another severe threat this weekend. That’s when rounds of thunderstorms will blow back in here, causing issues for the big Memorial Day weekend.
Let’s start with today’s dose of ugly and roll forward. Highs today will generally be in the 60-65 degree range in central and east, with pocked of upper 50s. These are also the same areas with gusty showers across the region…
Warm and humid air then surge in for Friday with temps closing in on 80. The threat for a few storms will then move in Friday evening, setting the stage for rounds of strong to severe storms Saturday and Sunday…
This is a decent signal showing up for severe weather and flash flooding. Look at the GFS rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday…
There’s the potential for some rough and tumble weather this weekend, so stay alert in the coming days.
Much cooler air then comes in behind all this for the first half of next week. Check out the deep trough in the east…
That trough hangs tough as warm air develops across the deep south. That’s likely to set up a battle zone on top of us, with additional clusters of showers and storms…
Some of the model runs are REALLY putting it down over the next ten days…
There’s no shortage of busy weather in this setup.
Enjoy the day and take care.
Our relay team has our annual relay for life horse show benefit Saturday afternoon round 3 in Stanford my what is the best chance of strong to severe weather round that time or is it to early to judge? Thanks
We have a graduation party scheduled outdoors for late Saturday afternoon in Georgetown. The timing that I’ve heard today is pop up storms during the day, a stronger line of storms more toward sunset.
Thanks Chris, looking at all the maps or models you presented this morning, tells me that some areas to my north will have to watch for the possibility of very heavy rain and possible tornadoes the next few days. Flooding, will be an issue in those areas. My county, so far has escape the severe weather this spring and the heavy rains. I’ts just been a cool to warm pattern with normal amounts of rain. I always wonder, what does a family do after a tornado destroys their home and property. Do they become homeless, do they depend on their insurance, or do they depend on government for help. I think, if this happened to me, I would move to an area that doesn’t have tornadoes. Something to think about.
The folks in Moore OK rebuild and persevere. They’ve been hit hard over the years.
OMG, Thanks Schroeder. We were waiting to see what you had to say… Now we can go on with our day…
One of the worst Thunder Storm I have seen happen Memorial Day weekend about 10 or 11 years ago. Hope this is not a replay. Thank Chris for your hard work
Memorial Day weekend 2004, 13 years ago. I was storm chasing during the outbreak. Put over 200 miles on my car and never left Estill County. We were under 4 separate Tornado Warnings that day, saw rotation on more than one occasion. How one didn’t drop out of that volatile atmosphere. 14 hours that day was spent chasing and responding to incidents due to the storms
Schroeder you just have to look over some people. Keep on posting. A lot on here like to read your comments.
Laura, Schroeder has burn a bridge or two. CB had to pull the reigns back on him a time or two. So there’s some on here that just don’t care for his comments.
Agreed
