Good Thursday, everyone and welcome to the month of June. Today marks the official start of summer in the wonderful world of weather. Summer is starting out on a rather tranquil note with isolated showers and storms and temps running normal to a bit below.
The focus on the forecast is on some big time temp swings from this weekend into early next week. Summer and fall collide over the next week and change.

This is my first comment on the blog-site and I wish to address the insensitivity of Prelude and several others: I find your snarky replies to Schroeder’s comments disconcerting.(I remember he was “warned” by Mr. Bailey, the proprietor of this site.)
I am an elderly, retired, widowered, well-educated and traveled gentleman who has read this blog daily for many, many years. I enjoy and commend Mr. Bailey’s commitment and expertise and savor each and every comment posted by the readers of his blog.
I do not see Schroeder’s posts as competitive or condescending in the least.
Have any of you ever paused to think possibly Schroeder may be elderly? Having lost my soulmate and with few living relatives, I have found “the Internet” a blessing. I read prolifically from a variety of reputable websites and continue to learn many new things each and every day. I have found it to be one of many outlets for me to cope with my loneliness. Maybe, just maybe, Schroeder is in the same boat.
When I was in the 20 year process of obtaining an education I had to seek information using the library card catalog (Dewey Decimal System) and note cards. Now, said information(with acute discernment, of course) is mostly a point and click away and available to most everyone.
To the point: everyone is entitled to an opinion and as long as it does not degrade another then all should be well in the virtual world.
Also, to the all folks who snap and write derogatory posts here in response to those who pen comments regarding the “wisdom of their elders,” the shame is on you. My mother zealously believed in the Almanac and would only plant her garden according to the “signs.” She grew exceptional vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers utilizing her methods for over sixty years. Each and every one’s perspective changes as we age and so will all of yours’.
Mr. Bailey, your blog “rocks,” in the vernacular of the younger generations, and I have the highest respect for you. Keep up the exceptional work!
And, Prelude, I respect your opinions, also! From all my years in the work-place and as a contributing member of our society, I found profound respect for others and their opinion’s paramount to success.
On the models that Chris has presented on his blog this morning, take notice in the huge ridge to our west. This ridge is usually over our part of the country by this time, bringing the usual heat and humidity. Why it is this way, no one knows.
