Good Wednesday to one and all. Thunderstorms have been rumbling across the state over the past few days and we have more on the way. The tropical air mass in place is adding some fuel to the heavy rain fire from these storms, and that could cause some additional issues.
The storms that are out there can drop a few inches of rain in a short amount of time today and Thursday. Local high water issues will be possible both days. The concern will be for storms that move over the same areas, upping the true flash flood potential.
Track today’s action…
Additional storms will be possible Friday into early Saturday, but we may see the coverage come down just a bit. Still, any storm that goes up will have some very heavy rains. Temps will also be pretty toasty, still.
Later this weekend, a potent cold front drops in from the northwest with additional showers and thunderstorms. This line of storms can be strong or severe with another flash flood threat…
Much cooler air comes in behind that, but another system may dive in from the northwest a few days later. That could bring more showers and storms.
The Canadian still tries to develop a tropical system, but now the only model showing this…
Regardless of a true tropical system, the tropics are going to keep sending a lot of moisture our way. This is a lot of rain showing up on the GFS Ensembles over the next few weeks…
Make it a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris, Yesterday, here where I live, the afternoon temperature reach 91 degrees. This is the warmest to date here in the hills, but the dew point still not making it too uncomfortable. We had a brief thunder shower around 8:00 pm which was followed by a beautiful sunset. I’am not to concerned about tropical development in the Gulf, as only the Canadian model is displaying this, but it is worth watching. Have a great day everyone.
Thank you Schroeder for you input as if anyone really cared if you had a shower or not…
I care, so keep your comments to yourself if you don’t care.
To be fair I really don’t think most people care who had a shower at there residence and who did not. If you got rain and you needed it great if you got rain and didn’t need it oh well and if you didn’t get any rain and you need it you’ll have plenty more chances.
So rude—I would be ashamed to pick on one person all the time. We care for each person who cares enough to leave a reply on Chris’ Great Blog.Let’s continue to enjoy the free speech that we are afforded in America and has always been a part of this Great Weather Blog. Chris has done all of us such a great favor by giving us the opportunity to keep informed on the weather and to learn from his wealth of knowledge about the subject. I have been a daily follower of this Blog for several years and appreciate it being respectful to all. Please keep it that way!!!
Jane, and all the other bloggers with the short term memory or the ones that don’t know why Schroeder gets grief. Let’s take a walk down memory lane. Schroeder about a month maybe a month and a half or so came on CB’s blog and completely would blantantly contradict everything CB would say. Schroeder had the audacity to say what makes CB comments right? (Talk about getting sand kick in your face in your own sandbox) It got so ridiculous that CB warned Schroeder not once but twice and it takes a lot for CB to say something. Ultimately Schroeder rub some people really wrong on this blog (including CB), and some have there guard up and are a bit suspect of Schroeder’s intentions. I’m included in that suspicion category of Schroeder. Despite Schroeder’s doing a complete 180 Schroeder should of never have come in CB’s blog and right off the bat show disrespect and Schroeder did. If you don’t believe me look back in the archive’s a couple months back. If Schroeder came out acting the way he is now there would be zero issues but Schroeder did not. First impressions are the most memorable unfortunately for Schroeder he left a bad first impression. You reap what you so.
P.S Jane you wanna use the word “Rude” I highly suggest you look at the root of the issue and take at gander on how Schroeder handle himself to start with. Schroeder’s comments was rude at its best. I do believe you would say rude and disrespect if you saw Schroeder’s comments. I don’t care if your the age of 15 or the age of 70 you just do not act the way Schroeder did and expect sugarcanes and rainbows from everyone.
I stand corrected, Schroeder been posting longer then I give him credit for. Schroeder had decent posts earlier this winter. What happen a couple of months with him lashing out is beyond me.
Prelude, cool off and enjoy the rest of afternoon.
I’m done venting, besides I had me a snickers so I’m good now lol
Thanks, CB! This morning’s dew points in central Tennessee are upper 60s and even some low 70s so it’s feeling like summer alright 😉 .
While today’s severe threat may be fairly low, the Weather Prediction Center indeed has much of Kentucky, east Tennessee and especially areas of Indiana and Illinois at some risk for “excessive rainfall” so as the NWS and other in the weather business often say, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
So far we have not received any rainfall in my neck of woods. Were not hurting by any means compare to other parts of ky. Thanks Chris for the every day information.
I don’t mind individual reports. Keep ’em coming.
I hope everyone gets the much needed rain for their lawn and gardens and farms today, but it looks like the best chance for widespread rains and thunderstorms will be on Monday, followed by cooler and dryer air for next week. Have a great afternoon.
Though I haven’t seen anything develop yet, I took a look at visible satellite from 1:20 pm edt. I see a boundary that looks promising to my west from west central Indiana to west Tennessee moving east. Here’s hoping for development, maybe even a line of storms.
I just looked at the lates Hi-Res any storms that do form look to stay north, east, south, and west of Valley Station by 5 miles. J/K lol
And Cloverleaf too. I’m on the leeward side on the hill in my neighborhood so we never get wind that amounts to anything. Could use some rain.
It was 91 when I left my house in north Richmond at 2:45pm. Rain in Mt. Vernon dropped temperatures here to 74. Very nice.
PWats lowest right along and west of my location, at least relatively speaking at around 1.4/1.5 Storms would not initiate. The action remains north and east. My ground is getting dry. No measurable rain for at least 7 days here at my house, or since I’ve been back from Florida. My rain barrel running low after I had family looking after garden while I was away. They accidentally left the spigot open.
Louisville tied the record high of 94 today which was set back in 2010. This is rather impressive and somewhat of a shock considering how green things are and dew points being on the high side.
Fix the thermometer and that doesn’t happen.
3 straight days in the 90’s for Lexington. About an inch below normal in rainfall for the month of June so far.
Blue Grass Airport is not a reliable temp gauge.
I just wish that we can all be friends.
