Good Saturday to one and all. The weekend is here and we have a small break in this stormy setup we’ve been in all summer long. Even with a “break”, I still can’t rule out a shower or storm going up across the bluegrass state. That’s when you know you’re in a wet pattern.
A leftover shower or storm will be around this morning in the south and southeast, but that action pulls away. Isolated stuff may try to pop later today, but most areas stay dry with upper 70s and low 80s.
Sunday will see low 80s for many with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated showers and storms will develop later Sunday into Sunday evening.
Next week is a warmer week, but we cannot get away from the showers and storms. The setup will feature clusters of storms diving in from northwest to southeast…
This is a setup that has been known to produce a derecho or two on the eastern edge of a plains heat ridge. Not saying it’s going to happen, but it’s something for us to watch for into next week.
The main impact may be from torrential rains and local flooding issues..
Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris, Thunderstorms late last night, lots of lighting and heavy rain in my county. Looking forward to the lower dew points today. Everyone, please look up derecho events, interesting read. Have a nice day everyone.
Derecho—- a line of intense, widespread, and fast-moving windstorms and sometimes thunderstorms that moves across a great distance and is characterized by damaging winds.
Hey hey, just like old times. My part of Valley Station gets a whopping 0.06″ last night, least in the county according to all of the readings I follow. A reading from Fairdale did come in at a close second with 0.09″.
Thanks Chris. Have a great weekend!
Still made it to 86 and that was with it being cloudy till about 1:30 we are still partly cloudy hopefully tomorrow it will be better.
No idea what you’re talking about Andy!!??
AMAZING drop dewpoints since Friday just as advertised! We dropped from 70 to 67!!! It feels INCREDIBLE out there today folks!!! I was so inspired by the significantly drier air that I went up into the mountains and painted Bob Ross style!!
In all seriousness, the low dew points are just now entering the top of the state and maybe, hopefully, will be in play Sunday morning *fingers crossed*
Dewpoints in the upper 50s finally reached Nashville TN by about late afternoon Saturday. Great sleeping weather tonight with the windows open and the ac temporarily turned off.
LD : I’am an artist too. I watch Bob Ross as much as possible on HULU, I like his wet on wet technique, but I continue to be a traditional oil painter. Subjects I paint are mostly landscapes, wildlife and birds. I also paint in open acrylic.
