Good Sunday, folks. We are rolling into a much warmer week, but it’s one that will keep rounds of showers and storms rolling our way. This action will be coming from the northwestern sky and will likely increase the deeper we get into the week.

Let’s start with today and move forward. Highs will be in low 80s central and east with middle 80s in the west. There is just the slightest chance for a pop up shower or storm going up late in the day into the evening…

There will be a better chance for some storms rumbling in here on Monday as steamy air fights toward us from the west. A few of those storms can be strong, especially across the northern half of the region.

This kicks off a pattern featuring summer heat across the plains and Mississippi Valley, and cooler air in the Great Lakes and New England. This puts Kentucky in the battleground with storm clusters on top of us or very near us. That will vary from day to day, and you can see that well on the Canadian…

A couple of things about the week ahead:

  • Any day that features more sun than storms can see temps make a run at 90. Tuesday and Wednesday appear to be the primary contenders.
  • Storm clusters can be strong and put down very heavy rainfall when they do hit.
  • The best chance for storms rolls in Thursday and Friday as a cold front drops in from the northwest…

The theme of the summer has been for the REAL summer heat to be across the western part of the country, with wet weather and normal to below normal temps in the east.

The long range European Model through the middle of August keeps that theme going.

I still think we can get some pretty steamy stretches of weather thrown in there, and one comes this week.

Make it a great Sunday and take care.
