Good Monday, everyone. The pattern for the first half of summer was largely cooler than normal across much of our region. That changed last week with temps taking a walk on the super steamy side of weather life, but a series of cold fronts will take us back toward a much cooler pattern.

The first front is on top of the region today, but is slowing down with the southward movement. That’s because a system diving in behind it is looking to be a much bigger deal later this week. I’ll get to that in a moment.

Let’s begin with today and the threat for scattered showers and storms. This action doesn’t look anything like the action we had this weekend, but will still be out there for you to track…

Highs today are still pretty steamy with mid and upper 80s, with a stray 90 west and south. Temps and humidity levels both drop in a big way on Tuesday. Highs should range from 80-85 degrees with some upper 50s showing up by Wednesday morning.

The next system looks to bring showers and storms our way by Thursday and Friday. That system may try to hang around just to our east into the weekend, and could throw some rain back into Kentucky if it does.

I’ve got the GFS looping all the way into the start of August…

With these frequent cold fronts dropping in from the northwest, cooler shots of air keep showing up…

The CFS shows well below normal temps into the start of August. Check out the 5 day average temp departures in Celsius…

The model continues to have August skewing cooler than normal as a whole.

I will show some seasonal models for the fall and winter later this week, so keep checking back.

Have a great day and take care.
