Here Comes The Fall Cold Front

Good Friday to one and all. We have a strong fall cold front blowing across the bluegrass state, kicking off a line of showers and storms. This will usher in another shot of way below normal temperatures for the next few days, with more cool slated for much of the net few weeks. Plenty of rain is also likely to fall during this time.

Today’s line of storms could be strong or locally severe, but this doesn’t look like a big event. The best chance for some strong storms will be across the eastern half of the state, with high winds the main threat.

The showers and storms will quickly end from west to east later this afternoon into the evening. Winds are going to be very gusty as temps tank. Highs will be in the 70s but some upper 50s may show up in the north by late this evening. Wow!

Saturday morning lows range from 50-55 with some pockets of upper 40s possible. Highs are mainly in the 70s with a mix of sun and clouds.

If you’re making outdoor plans on Sunday, try to do them earlier in the day. Clouds will quickly increase with showers and storms streaming in from the southwest during the afternoon and evening. This action will take us into early next week and can be heavy at times…

Temps remain below normal with another big shot of rain on the way for the second half of next week…

That’s being pushed by another huge dip in the jet stream…

Guess what that does to our temps? Yep… We stay well below normal, giving us one heck of a negative temperature departure for the first half of August.

Make it a great Friday and take care.

Thanks Chris, Right now, showers and thunder, with some lighting has reach my county. This is the second thunder shower this week in my area. Very heavy rain at the present, but I don’t expect it to last long. Looking forward to the coming cold front. It will be interesting how far south it travels. Have a great day everyone.

  2. David in Gtown says:

Finally got a good drink of water with the thunder here in Georgetown.

  3. MarkLex says:

Well, for anyone who misses storms today, this is one of the best lightning/thunder videos I’ve seen.

  4. laura says:

Schroeder is not making fun of anyone. However, the R YAWN NUT is.That is the difference in posting an opinion!

    • Prelude says:

Oh trust me Schroeder is absolutely no saint go back to April 9th and read, Schroeder offended quite a few with his blatant contradiction including the person that operates this blog. I guess Schroeder’s comments on April 9th are completely justified. Smh

      • Andy Rose says:

I think that horse has been beat enough. He recently has been well behaved while Ralph continues to “stalk” and mock him.

  5. laura says:

I think we have more than one immature person on this weather blog besides R YAWN NUT, that is the ones that uphold his making fun of people.

  6. Allen says:

Can’t seem to buy rain on the south side of Lexington despite all the promising forecasts – this morning’s shower put less than 1/4 inch in the rain gauge. So much forecast potential, so little actual rain. Sigh.

  7. Schroeder., says:

I went back to April 9th and read my postings on El nino. I did not say anything that was not true. To this date, I don’t know why Chris was so against this post. His lashing out at me was very unprofessional and told him to get back to me because I didn’t personally offend him or his weather blog that morning. To this date, Chris has not responded. Prelude and Ralph this bashing me and my comments has got to stop. If you both would click on the link above you will find out.

    • Prelude says:

Oh Schroeder stop your whining and put your victim card away I don’t bash you nor do I bully you. I just don’t defend you as others do. You have said some bizarre and completely off the wall things on your posts that are not in the slightest bit true. P.S on April 9th you certainly did say stuff that was untrue you were completely called out on it and put in your place.

  8. Mike S says:

Speaking for myself, I too have a blog and welcome any comments, complaints, and opinions. But, there is a line drawn when cyberbullying occurs, the repetitious negative overtones meant to intimidate or just being plain mean toward others. I have no place for it on my blog. Don’t think CB does not know who you are. It’s pretty easy to find your internet location/address. If one engaged in this activity on my blog, don’t be surprised if you get a knock on your door. I would not only ban you, but I would report you. Too much of this stuff happens to our kids. So, whoever you are, you are welcome to visit my blog, but just remember….

  9. Virgil says:

    People….grow up….kids read this blog.

  10. Schroeder., says:

We have spent all afternoon on this distraction, when we all could have been commenting on weather events. A blog that allows personal attacks is not a blog I want to be on. I was not raised that way. I respect everyone, I grew up in a different world, when things were much simpler and people were not rude to one another. I hope all of you feel the same. In my absence, please be civilized to one another and if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all, like my mother use to say to me. You will feel better inside. PEACE

    • corey says:

I enjoy your posts and opinions, whether I.agree all the time.or.not its still nice to see. Dont let these rude bafoons cause you to leave!

  11. Chris Mercer says:

Loving come on here at night and reading about the Schroder and Ralph show! (NOT!)
