Good Friday to one and all. I’m running out of ways to describe just how awesome the current weather pattern is across the bluegrass state. All I can say is go out and enjoy this thing of beauty. While you’re doing that, I’m tracking some showers and storms in here early next week, and the potential for Harvey to impact the region.
The first threat for a shower or storm comes late Sunday into Sunday night, with a much better chance arriving Monday. That’s when a system drops in from the northwest…
Some of the storms can put down decent rains through Tuesday…
It’s once into the middle of next week that we could be feeling the impacts from Hurricane Harvey. This storm is a powerhouse, ready to slam ashore into Texas…
Take the interactive radar for a drive down to Texas to track the storm. You can also pull up live storm chaser cams to see just how bad things are getting…
This storm will likely dump feet of rain across southeastern Texas. That’s right… FEET of rain as it stalls through the weekend.
What happens after that still remains up in the air. Odds favor the remnants of this system getting into the Ohio Valley something later next week. The European Model continues to think that’s the case…
Obviously, take no one solution to heart when dealing with a tropical system that stalls. We will have a better picture of everything over the next few days.
Have a great Friday and take care.
Our weather will most likely stay the same, largely caused by the influence of Hurricane Harvey. I don’t expect any precipitation in our region for the next several days, which is fine by me. My yard is as green as it was in April and May. I’am definitely ready for Autumn, even though current weather is nothing to complain about.

I been studying projected upper air patterns for the up coming Autumn and Winter 2017-18. I know it’s early for this, and I’am usually incorrect when it comes to long range forecast. I believe, we will have either a Omega Block or Rex Block through out the Autumn and Winter. Here’s the link explaining this: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/jetstream/constant/basic.html
Thanks Chris, Prayers to the people in Texas.
Ahh yes.

That’s right, the residence along the Texas Gulf coast are going to need our prayers and our help when this potential dangerous Hurricane Harvey has past. Here’s the latest: http://www.weatherstreet.com/hurricane/2017/Harvey.htm
Geez, Harvey is now a Category 4 hurricane. Like everyone else, thoughts and prayers for Texas.
Looks like Harvey will come ashore in a relatively sparsely populated part of the coast. While the storm surge and the 130 + mph winds are of course a dangerous threat, the extreme fresh water flooding from heavy rains could be close to off the charts if this thing sits around as many forecast models suggest could happen.
This brings back uncomfortable memories, as I recall like yesterday as a kid by the tv seeing the unbelievable devastation in Florida from Andrew (which was later designated a Category 5).
