Good Sunday to one and all. Our weekend is wrapping up with an increase in clouds and the chance for a shower or storm to pop. This will lead us into a pattern that turns stormy into the last few days of August. From there, it’s all eyes on Harvey to see how much, if any, rain it can bring our way.
In the overall view of the setup, this is a very energetic pattern for this time of year. Some deep troughs will continue to show up as we head into September and I’m wondering if an early season frost is in the works. Hmmm
Let’s start with today and roll forward. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s with a shower or storm trying to develop…
An upper level low drops in from the northwest Monday and Tuesday. This will lead to showers and storms increasing across the region…
Locally heavy rainfall will be possible with the storms that work through here. You can also see our storm system developing off the east coast. That may get a name, but is likely to head out to see. One thing to watch for is the potential for this upper low to pull some moisture from that storm and wrap it back in here. If that happens, it would lead to a greater heavy rain threat.
Harvey continues to dump historic amounts of rain across Texas. This storm could loop back toward the Gulf over the next few days and may strengthen again if it gets over the water…
What happens to Harvey in the coming days? The operational models are all over the place, but the Canadian and NAM both bring this over the Gulf and into Louisiana in a few days…
If that’s the case, a trough digging into the region by Thursday and Friday could pick up, at least, some of that moisture and bring it in here.
If Harvey continues to hang around Texas through much of next week, another trough working in here by Sunday and Labor Day may pick up some of what’s left…
That’s a potent cool shot showing up behind that…
The models are also honing in on another deep system a few days after that…
That looks like something from November instead of the first week of September. Geez.
The big cool shots have strong support from the Ensembles…
Have a great day and take care.
A carry over from yesterdays rude comments: We were all getting along, I don’t understand why my comments, which I stand by, are now being attack once again. Please, stop the negativity, it doesn’t help my inferiority complex at all. Peace please. My comment on the weather the next few days are for more of the same. My reason for this is that tropical storm Harvey, which more than a week ago I predicted would form in the Gulf, and would become a strong Hurricane. Till, Harvey moves and transfers his energy, we will continue to have the same weather, which is nice. Remember to pray for the people, along the southeast coast of Texas.
Schroeder, some might disagree with me others might not but how you are not blocked from posting comments is beyond me. Your comments come across completely arrogant and belittling and pretty much contradict what CB says, very little on what you post makes any sense at all.
If you truly had an inferiority complex you wouldn’t be so bold in your posts or be so defensive all the time. You would keep to yourself.
I’m not going to bite on the tedious weather trolling but I will say that as far as ‘prayer’ goes, ‘pray’ for the animals tied up and left for dead by their owners.
Note, these animals were rescued by the photographer…from England. A million and one reasons to dislike Texas, I didn’t really need another but there it is.

I disagree with tying up any domesticated animal outside to fend for itself it’s means it’s cruel it’s abuse and the owners should be held 100% accountable. I rather see the owner just let the animal be set free at least the animal has a fighting chance on survival. To chain your pet up outside in a major hurricane or any life threatening weather event is completely despicable and a cowardly action. A dog, cat… etc etc is a family pet and is a member of the family leave no family members behind.
Mean not means
I cannot imagine a dog being chained up outside when a Cat 4 comes ashore. The animal went through winds in excess of 130 mph with blinding rain that will pierce the skin flying debris and flooding with little to no shelter. This goes for livestock too, this is completely unacceptable. We as humans are the voices for these animals and these animals rely on us for there safety and protection when events like these occur. Our pets are 100% loyal to us we need to be 100% loyal to them.
“I” predicted?? Are you kidding me right now?

On the two map presented on this link, notice how the energy to our west dissipates before reaching the Mississippi River. This has been going on for quite sometime. In the Caribbean, Tropical storm Harvey is moving west, and appears to be getting more organized. At the same time a upper level low is spinning over the state of Florida, if the two combine, we could have a very strong hurricane. http://www.weatherstreet.com/hurricane/2017/Hurricane-Atlantic-2017.htm
I’m sure that meteorologist and the NHC saw the potential well before you read and posted about it.
I agree with you Prelude about people leaving their animals to die. This really upsets me to no end. thank you for this post.

Isn’t it amazing how the weather is only important for social events or if someone in the city has to water their lawn or garden we’re here in west Kentucky and pastures ponds corn and soybeans are at almost disaster levels from no rain but nothing is ever mentioned on the news or any weather forums I sure hope Monday delivers some good rainfall in dire straits and desperate had very little rain since July 15
I agree with you to a point, but for the people in Texas the lack of rainfall in certain spots of Kentucky completely pales in comparison to what the folks in the path of Harvey are going through. The lack of rain it happens it’s not good for farmers I get that. However I’ll take the lack of rain then be in the path of Harvey’s remnants where a lot of people will not recover from.
I want to clarify Schroeder comments about the real winter that he posted yesterday and some people apparently were to young to understand what he was saying. Back in the late 70’s we experience such harsh winters that we haven’t experienced since then. I know I was a teenager at the time. Brutal cold, Ohio river froze up and had a historical blizzard this type of winter hasn’t happened since then
Maybe not the Ohio River freezing over but we have had record breaking snow’s and cold since then. I’m not by no means discounting the winter of 77-78 it was brutally cold and snowy for a very long stretch I’ll admit to that.
Yes Ohio river did froze over. Some people even walk on it, mark my word prelude that’s how cold it got
I’m saying yes the Ohio River did freeze I agree with that statement that has not happened since. However record colds and snow has happen since the 70’s.
Thank you Wintettr lover, I’am glad someone on this weather blog understands my post from yesterday.
You’re welcome
Farmer43 : I know how you feel, back in the late 1980’s we experience the worse widespread drought that anyone has seen since the dust bowl of 1930’s. I was operating a garden center during the drought of 1988-1992. It almost put me out of business, but I survived, but the lost was extensive. These TV meteorologist put out a forecast for people who only care about getting a sun tan, baseball game or other recreational activities. Always get an Agricultural forecast, they are more accurate.
That’s simply not true, there you go stereotyping and bashing meteorologist does it ever stop with you?

The reason why Chris Bailey has not block my posting Prelude, is that he does not take the time to read the comments. My guess is that he is just too busy. I thought I would have been long gone by now. That is what you want right ? Well, maybe this post will. I’am getting really tired of all the negativity.
You’ve been saying you would quit posting and won’t comment for the longest. Yet you still continue to post. And now you openly admitted that your shocked that CB has not ban you by your very own comments?? Smh
Prelude I was not comparing my situation to Texas I feel really bad for those people I was just saying how the meteorologist always talk about the weekend Friday night football and pool weather but never mention how some people really need rain unless somebody in the city’s lawn turns brown
What really annoys me and I never brought this up before, is that some of you refer to Chris Bailey as CB. I think this is disrespectful. The man works hard to bring you the weather forecast every morning, and that’s at 2:00 am. Today, he updated the forecast this afternoon. Read it, it is really informative. I wish I could write like that, with all the research, but I do the best I can. I know, I don’t talk like anyone on here, and that probably is the reason I’am the focus of attention. I can’t take the put downs anymore. It is really taking a toll on my nerves.
