Good Friday, folks. Hurricane Irma continues to target Florida for a devastating hit and the remnants will likely blow into Kentucky early next week.
Irma continues to push westward as a strong Cat 4 hurricane and may brush Cuba before turning due north. The NHC is now doing what I suspected and forecasting Irma to become a Cat 5 again before moving into south Florida…
The forecast track from the National Hurricane Center is a worst case scenario for Florida and brings this thing toward Kentuckyโฆ
This is a devastating track for much of the Florida Peninsula, and that’s likely an understatement.
The latest models continue to bring rain and wind from Irma all the way into Kentucky. The NAM shows the first bands arriving late Monday…
The GFS is similar and shows the lingering low…
I’ll see you tonight with another update. Take care.
Seems a profound cone shift west, considering just a few hours ago national mets were saying the wiggle room was essentially gone. West trend continues, this almost seems to have a chance of going into the gulf and not so much Florida. Question then, how much further west…. Pure speculation- of course, but he less population areas the better.
the
CB, I thought the worst track was either up the middle, or crossing from west to east, diagonally up the state……..
Oh yeah, the warm gulf air will feed it more, and then more time at higher intensity as it travels up. Duh.
The worst case scenario would be if the hurricane Road along the Florida West Coast.
Seems though the trend is even more west. They keep shifting west with each update. Maybe fate and mother nature does not like all the media hyperbole and is “deciding” to move it more west in spite ๐ Seriously though, TWC has got sound effects and destruction edits with movie trailer-like music.
I vastly prefer CB’s style over those people. It would be GREAT if the system keeps trending west and then watching all the spin after the movie-like build up. Presuming of course the shift impacts less people ๐ Sure- the north shift seems inevitable, but the national media in general IMO have no apparent shame. CBS Miami and the other local mets though are more news with less conjecture and hyperbole. Also sans the movie trailer vibe.
Still, it would be REALLY nice for a less impacting big western shift and let it wear itself out in the Gulf ๐ ๐ Unicorns are real!
I have many family and friends in Florida who have ignored evacuation orders. Very worried about them.
