Good Monday, everyone. Historic Irma continues to slowly weaken, but will still pack tropical storm force winds into much of the southeastern United States. As the remnants inch closer to us, rain overspreads the region later today into early Tuesday.
You don’t need me to recap everything from Irma. It’s been a devastating storm for much of Florida and may produce wind damage all the way through Georgia, Alabama into Tennessee.
The latest on the storm…
You can see how the remnant low works into Kentucky by late Wednesday and Thursday. The models are tracking that well…
We will need to watch that system to see if it produces some slow-moving showers and storms that can cause local high water. The rains will be tropical in nature, so it’s possible.
Speaking of tropical rains, those arrive in here from southeast to northwest this evening into tonight. Heavy rain amounts of 1″-2″ will be possible in a few areas. Winds will also be very gusty and could reach 35mph in higher gusts late tonight and Tuesday.
Track the tropical drops…
After we get through Irma, our attention turns toward Jose and a potential east coast threat this coming weekend or early the following week.
Amazing times we are living in.
I will update as needed today, so check back. Make it a great Monday and take care.
Not only “amazing times” but honestly “the end of times”
Let’s not got overboard a busy hurricane season does not mean end times this is happens unfortunately.
The weather is part of what is to come. If you know what the Bible says about the end of time. It all is falling in place like it says. Men will be lovers of themselves rather than God. They will turn from wanting women to wanting men. Knowledge will be greatly increase. More earthquakes around. When you see these signs the end is growing near. Not preaching just telling you what just some of what the bible says. I will say this. The devil uses people to do his dirty work.
This is a weather blog, not TBN or the 700 Club.
Jeff you and others talk about everything under the sun. But when a comment is made about the bible you jump all over it. Practice what you preach.
Agree
Jane I did talk about the weather. If you read the other comments they were talking about the end of time. I know where this is coming from. Have a good day.
Irma thankfully was nowhere near as bad as movie trailer advertised by TWC and other national mets. They almost seem disappointed.
This happens
Not digging all the apocolyptic hype Ive seen during the last 2 weeks…not called for in the least.

The level of pretentiousness by TWC and some other national mets was palpable. I like how they blamed the dry air and moving inland as a reason for the weaker (thankfully) hit. The dry air should have been part of forecast and just the day before they were touting an inlad move was worst case scenario. My company has a LOT of interests in mid and southern Florida. Feedback is Irma was not anywhere as bad as expected in regards to surge and structures. Still a BIG hit, none the less- just thankfully not the Armageddon Part 2 that was movie market level advertised and marketed.
I’m not demeaning Irma. There were areas flooded, a lot of debris and power will be out for many days for some. Just very happy not as bad a easily could have been.
