Good Tuesday to one and all. Summer steam… Summer Steam… it continues for one more day, then changes sweep across the region. Those changes will be with a couple of fall cold fronts dropping in from the northwest later this week.
The forecast for today is rinse and repeat of our past several days. Enjoy it, fans of summer.
A few clouds will billow up and can produce isolated showers and storms. You can see those on our national satellite…
You can also see the close call North Carolina is having with Hurricane Maria. This storm will continue to lift due north for another day or so before being swept northeast ahead of our first fall front. That arrives late Wednesday and can produce a broken band of showers and storms…
The trough digging into the country behind this front is splitting. That’s actually a good thing for the east coast, or it would have entrained Maria and whipped it northwest.
It also means the air isn’t as cold as it could be, but it’s still going to be a nice blast of fall. Temps behind front number one drop into the 70-75 degree range Thursday into Friday.
Front number two drops in late Friday and early Saturday…
That’s likely a dry system, but I suppose we can squeeze out an isolated shower or storm from it.
The air coming in behind that front looks awesome for the weekend. Highs Saturday should stay in the 60s for many with upper 60s and low 70s on Sunday. Lows by Sunday morning can tickle the 40 degree mark for some.
From there, the pattern becomes murky because it now looks like the tropics are going to spawn a few more systems. I said to beware the potential for tropical systems to try to control the pattern again, and that looks to be the case over the next few weeks.
Temps may warm early next week (nothing like right now), as a disturbance forms near Florida, That slows down the front from the west, putting it in here later in the week. Behind that front, the Caribbean and Gulf will be prime for development…
The tropics continue to be the driver of the overall weather pattern!
Make it a great day and take care.
Need a little rain.
What caused the pattern change, the hurricanes? Was wet all spring, summer. Now cant buy any rain in se ky
That same nasty ridge we had all winter last year is back, hoping it doesn’t decide to set up shop again
Yeah, I had around 9 inches for the super wet August and barely over 1 inch for the super dry September (through the 26th). The water table is still good and no where near a drought; however, I hope this will not be a repeat of last year’s severe fire season as flash, short-term droughts can create terrible fall forest fires.
I know it’s early in fall season but it sure mimics last fall in a a lot of ways if u remember all the wildfires and drought last fall hopefully the pattern will change soon sure don’t like the heat we’ve been having this late in the year I know it’s going to cool down some but a week ago the forecast was real fall weather now it’s here not as cool now saying possible 80s again after this fall cold front this weekend now I’m hoping winter isn’t the same as last year lot of empty promises last winter a week out last winter cold and snow and it got here sunny and 50 or 60 or rain
How does the weather/hurricanes/storms in the Caribbean & Gulf of Mexico effect the weather for fall and winter not only in Kentucky, but for the rest of the Country as well??
Hey Sean, I don’t know. Something to do with the spinning in the Atlantic causing our pattern to stagnate. It’s amazing to me that I see people asking weather questions on here and most of the time no one bothers to answer it. But let there be a blog argument and the comment section fills with comments.
Was that a shot at me ? After I left this forum last Saturday, I promise I would not post again on this simple minded blog and forum.
You really are an arrogant piece of work.
Why don’t you take a look in your mirror if you want to see a “piece-of-work”. LMAO
So much for honesty
Honesty?? What you have posted toward me, in several posts; which I consider cyber bullying, which is allowed on this forum. This is why I particularly don’t want to waste time posting.
Told you guys, Schroeder is not to be trusted.
Prelude, with all due respect to you and others here; I am not anything close to what you think about me.
Most Octobers’ feature a few days in the 80’s. Every few years, a day touches 90. I am ok with those few 80’s but hope the 90’s are done for the year!
I will be very happy to see some cooler temps. And a little rain, too!
Me too.
Schroeder, didn’t you promise you were done with the blog? And yet your back again. Just goes to show your word is not your honor.
Thanks lol
I don’t see anywhere here giving you the option to choose who can participate here. The only promise I made was trying to avoid any and all insults directed toward my posts. Everyone (including you) has a right to make statements concerning the weather, BUT you have no right to insult anyone here.
Ready for a lower temperatures and lower humidity !

A wonderful time of year!
