Good Thursday, everyone. We have a nice run of fall weather as we end September and begin the month of October. September is following the trend of every month from sine Spring… cooler than normal with a week to 10 days of much warmer than normal. Now, we are ending things cooler than normal.
Highs today are generally upper 60s to low 70s for many areas with a mix of sun and clouds. Get used to hearing that forecast, because it will carry us through the upcoming weekend.
There is another weak front dropping in here Friday night, but most of the shower action stays just north of us. Saturday is likely the coolest day with many temps staying below 70.
Lows will be deep into the 40s, with an outside shot of upper 30s in the sheltered valleys by Sunday morning.
Temps are in the 70s early next week as we watch something trying to spin up near Florida. That may actually work westward into the Gulf, while a cold front makes a run at us. The GFS shows that front being able to pull up some juice from the Gulf…
The Canadian model shows development a similar development, but has the usual timing and spatial differences…
That’s just one of MANY possible scenarios from late next week into the following week. There could be additional development in the Caribbean and Gulf, just as colder shots of air start to dive into the country…
Make it a good one and take care
Let’s all relax, and enjoy the nice Autumn weather, that God has provided for us. Make it a great day everyone.
Thanks!!!

I am a teacher and I’m jumping on the “thanks” movement taking place on this blog.

I thought you left?
He has said that many times before he’s a blogger politician.
Not till Bailey tells me to.
Schroeder’s word is not his honor. Countless times he’ll state “I’m not coming back to this petty blog” “CB doesn’t monitor his blog”, “I’m sick of getting bullied” “take CB’s forecast with a grain of salt”, “I’m appalled that school teachers want paid snow days”. “I’m going to e-mail CB at WKYT and complain” etc etc etc… the list goes on and on of Schroeder sayings.
THANKS !!!

Could use a good rain at this point. Getting rather dry and no rain is really forecast for the next 5-7 days. Wildfires could be a problem this autumn if the pattern doesn’t change.
Our first poster has already pointed out where things come from. I guess we aren’t praying enough and don’t deserve any rain. Maybe we can convince University 6 to seed the clouds with Adidas money?
In all seriousness though, the lack of rain is a real concern and deserves more attention. My yard is dry as a bone even a couple inches down. It’s already a tinderbox in most places so let’s hope this works out. Our choices of flash flooding or drought when it comes to precipitation is an uncomfortable pattern in which to be stuck.
Without the tropical systems the past few months, it would be a dust bowl here. The rain we have received has come from hurricane remnants, the fronts have been wimpy.
People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along?
Correction, if you please: ” Can’t we all just get along. “
Thanks

I will not jump on the “ERMAGHERD! DROUGHT!” train just yet.
October, is our driest month normally. We usually, receive a good rain the week before Thanksgiving or sometimes snow. I’am also worried about forest fires, since my home is surrounded by vast forest of beauty. If a forest fire does occur, the only thing you can say ” it was just to be.”

Of the 7 or 8 NWS forecast sites I follow throughout the state, I am only expecting 2 of them (Bowling Green and London) to finish with below normal temps for the month. That’s just hard to believe after such a cool start to the month.
I would believe London would average out below normal, but with Bowling Green, which is in western Kentucky to be normal to slightly above normal. I think elevation may explain it.

Just looked at the latest Goes East satellite image, in the Caribbean sea just east southeast of Cancun, Mexico. A tropical disturbance is beginning to take shape and conditions are very conducive for further development. If the storm develops, the name is Nate. Could be serious if it moves northwest and gains strength in the Gulf of Mexico.
Yeah thanks Schroeder read about it earlier today off the INTERNET!!! I’m sure you want to take credit for seeing a tropical disturbance did you call the NHC to tell them what you have discovered on the Goes East Satellite image?
Not true, that was an observation. I know how to read a satellite image.

I usually don’t start checking the blog again until fall but wow. Some of these posters are so toxic to each other, it’s ridiculous. Chris should just remove comments
