Good afternoon, everyone. Light snow increases this afternoon and evening, with some light accumulations possible for some areas. The best chance of this continues to be across the eastern half of the state. Light continues to be the word of the day.
I’m going to try and add another post later today, but I’m going to be a little busy ringing the bell for the Salvation Army at Fayette Mall. Come by and say hi to these three little elves…
It’s obviously for a GREAT cause and I will hook ya up with a WKYTRulesWinter Ruler. That way you can measure how much your grass has grown this winter. Boom, Zing, Pow! Even your weatherdude has jokes. 😉

Have a good one and take care.
That’s funny Chris, I needed a good laugh LOL. It’s is such a gray and depressing day here. I hope this current weather pattern changes back to the mild Autumn we experience earlier, with some good soaking rains and maybe a thunderstorm thrown in. Have a great afternoon everyone.
No one wants to talk dry on here as they will call you a drought monger, but I agree that we are trending low on the water table after a warm, inactive November, and at least for now, a cold, inactive December for precipitation.
You two worry too easily. We are fine with water.
Arkansas is currently in a extreme drought. Not that far away is why I am concerned. What Arkansas gets we usually get. Hopefully we will get the southern jet activated soon. We will need the polar jet too if we want a major snowstorm.
Where will the warm/cold dividing line set up? That’s always the fence issue every stinking year.
Snowing hard here a light coating as of now
Saw a tiny bit of snow dust in the air just now, not a flake really, just dust, in the air in my part of Richmond… So, we have already had more snow than we had all of last year.
Snow flurries showed up about an hour ago, and we now have a light coating on the ground. Chris called this right on for central Kentucky.
About 1.5 inches as of now!
Where? Just a little snow dust in the sky for a few minutes… in my part of Richmond.
I remember many Decembers in the not so distant past, that nary a flake was dropped. I’m okay with this in early December.
Coming down steady here in greenup!
Steady snow in Stearns ?
Is the radar filling in?
Had a friend call me a few minutes ago and said she witnessed a three car accident on Nicholasville Rd. near Kohl’s. She said it was slick out there and one car stopped at light but got hit from behind. She said one car was spun around and facing wrong direction now.
Yep. I’m at the Kia dealership right across the street, and the Southbound traffic on Lexington Road is backed up.
Slippery on Booneborough Rd.
side roads slick in frankfort, may a 1/2 inch in some spots?
Chris was all over this snow event for close to a week, as of yesterday another weather source had a chance of snow of 20%. Another said maybe .1 or .2 with no impact other than an isolated slick spot.
Obviously the road crews used that 20% forecast, because they were not aware of the ice rink on our roads that formed this evening. They were completely caught off guard with this one. Interstates are closed, police departments can’t respond to all of the accidents out there.
I’ll stick with Mr Bailey and his crew, they get it right.
It doesn’t take much snow to make roads slick. Especially when temps are in the 20’s and it gets dark. I’d rather drive in six inches of snow than the 1/2 inch we had today.
