Good Tuesday, folks. The NWS upgraded areas of Central Kentucky to a Winter Storm Warning through this afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory continues across the east…
We may see eastern Kentucky upgraded to a warning soon, as similar snows sweep through. This slow-moving band of snow is producing areas of 4″+ snows, with the bitterly cold temps really enhancing the ratios. A few pockets of 6″ will show up with such a slow-mover.
The bitterly cold temps are also a huge player. Many areas will struggle to get to 10 degrees this afternoon, with well below zero temps possible tonight. Wind chills are even colder and in the danger category.
Wednesday will find a few snow showers and flurries on the move with highs in the teens.
Here are your tracking tools for today’s snow in the central and east…

Stay safe out there and take care.
Glad to finally see an appreciable snow here in Versailles. Still a lot more winter left so hopefully we will see more.
I have exactly 2 inches on my deck just north of Somerset, apparently Iβve been in a lighter band area as Iβve heard others in the county with 3 inches or more.
Thanks Chris. Here at my workplace, which is less than a mile from my home, we have about 3 1/2 inches and it is still snowing. We top
Out at 4-5 yet. Sure is pretty! Stay safe and inside if you can!
So very done with winter already.
Looks like we will end up between 3-4 inches here Northeast of Nashville along the KY/TN border. Very pretty. Pretty cold!
Just imagine if the Friday system panned out for areas besides west NW. The temps would probably not have got above freezing yesterday, so six-ish inches of snow insulated by ice and then this event. Could have saw up to a foot of total frozen stuff on the ground. Shut down central with this cold air.
Missing Friday IMO was win as a result π
NWS in Louisville reported peak snow ratios of 40:1 !! That is just a crazy number that is very rare in Kentucky. Makes sense how some areas got 6+ inches with not much qpf.
Its almost to an inch here out of this storm. I’m not to hopeful on Caldwells totals.
Just hit an inch
Dang.. it is racing through now that it made it to SE KY…still a nice event but looks to miss those higher totals many saw to our west and north:(
At least 4″ in Richmond. It’s the new Big Snow π
Perhaps the lightest, fluffiest (Is that a word?) snow I have seen in my 14 years in KY.
Yep, just shoveled my huge driveway and was 1/4 the normal effort. Light snow FTW!
About a half inch in Middlesboro, I wont complain though since this is the most that has fallen here in 2 years. This thing is moving fast now and starting to loose steam just as quickly so my guess is we “might” reach an inch, or we might not.
It never snows where Andy lives, haha.
Who said it didn’t Snow? It’s snowed all day just not heavy enough to amount to much.
After all these years of studying weather, I have never been able to figure why systems speed up when reaching east KY!??
Not hardly an inch so far in knott county
We got almost 4 inches here in greenup and roads are awful
Snow has finally picked up here six hours after it was supposed to start.
Close to 5″ of new snow here in Bardstown, but amts. are varying depending on where I measure, so that’s basically an average! When I went to bed around 11:30 or so last night, no real accumulation from anything yesterday and it wasn’t even snowing. Sweeeeet surprise! My puppers are enjoying it, but I’m not when they come back inside with “The Zoomie’s”! LOL! π
A “zoomie”? Do you have greyhounds?
Nope! A 12 y/o Border Terrier (he’s blind, so that’s an adventure on it’s own), a Mountain Cur, and a Jack Russell/Weiner mix that is IMO, the fastest thing on 4 paws! I would’ve thought the snow would slow him down a bit, but goodness, NO!!! π
No complaints from me on the snow. π
Around 3 1/2 here in Bush area of Laurel County and still coming down looks like another heavy band moving out of Pulaski Co maybe get another half to inch
Finally took a VERY SLOW moving arctic front to overachieve and squeeze out a decent snow in Lexington. Personally, I was happy with the pace of it and got my winter fix.It was amazing to see that snow shield from TX to ME. Not looking forward to the single digit or below temperatures and dangerous wind chills the next couple of nights but warmer days are ahead!
Man I canβt wait to wash my Jeep!
One of the prettiest and steadiest snows Iβve seen in a long time. Super big fluffy flakes just pouring down for hours. Have close to 6β I think (in Barboursville, WV, near Huntington). And I love that it came as an overachiever!
Finally, a decent snow here in the South Central part of Kentucky! Absolutely loving it! Everybody stay safe!
1.5 inches here in knott county at 430
2 inches here in Hohenwald, Lewis county, 70 mi southwest of Nashville. We played in it all day. If that’s our big one for the year, then warm up I say… want to wet a line and start catchin some fish.
System took off moving fast once it reached south east ky really cut back the totals here compared to elsewhere
Looks like major pattern change is coming with above average temperatures that might take us into March for The Eastern half of the US.
Still snowing here in the Belfry area of Pike County but it looks like we are almost finished with the snow as the system has really sped up here in the mountains. I say we have a good 3 inches on the ground. The cold out there tonight is impressive. I’m ready for a warm up!!
Knox county got some decent results. Everyone gave up on it too early here. Andy got snow and don’t let him tell you any different. Pretty heavy snow started falling before it went by. At least three or four inches.
I got 2.5 inches. I don’t recall ever saying i didn’t get snow. I got what was originally forecasted but not but bumped up totals. I’m glad YOUR yard got 3 or 4 inches. Congrats Bobt. I am happy with my 2.5 it was more than i expected.
I live in MA and the snow started very light around 3 pm, we are suppose to get the heavy snow and bands around 4 to 9 am in the morning Wed. We are expecting up to 8 inches or more.
I have a toboggan, looking for someone that wants one.
P.S. Is there a map somewhere, where the snow totals are.
