Friday Evening Update

Good evening, folks. The first weekend of March is off and running on a seasonal, but clear note. This nice weather will take us through Saturday and Sunday, but another ugly pattern gets stated by Monday. That kicks off more of a winter looking setup.

Before we get to that, it was 6 years ago today that we were going through one of the worst tornado outbreaks in the state. Here’s a link to go back and see the live blog I was running that day… March 2nd Live Chat

Lows over the next couple of mornings will be in the 20s under clear skies. Highs on Saturday reach the upper 40s and low 50s, with highs deep into the 50s on Sunday. Sun-filled skies will make this a winner of a weather weekend.

A potent upper level system moves in on Monday, leading to an increase in showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be gusty as much colder air moves in, leading to the potential for some rain and snow by Tuesday and Wednesday…

That’s a very cold setup, with temps much below normal. There’s a signal for another potent storm system showing up by next weekend…

If we look at the upper levels, we continue to see a very blocky pattern for the next few weeks, at least. That keeps these big bowling ball type storms rolling across the country…

That very active pattern can lead to a lot of precipitation across our part of the world. Gulp.

Enjoy your evening and take care.

I don’t think the blocking will be all that big of a deal.
