Wednesday Evening Update

Good evening, everyone. Snow showers and a few snow squalls continue to coat parts of the bluegrass state. That action may actually ramp up a bit overnight into early Thursday, but the focus is on the weekend and two potential snow makers.

In the short-term, watch for slick spots to develop on area roads tonight into Thursday morning as some areas may see close to an inch of snow. This northwesterly wind can overachieve. Wind chills will be in the teens at times, so stay warm out there.

Our weekend looks to be bracketed by two potential winter weather events. The first arrives late Friday into Friday night. The GFS is now seeing a band of accumulating snow…

The NAM is saying that’s a little overdone…

I do think a swath of light, accumulating snow sets up across the region. I just am not ready to jump on where or how much.

The Sunday/Monday system on the GFS goes back and forth on how much of it impacts our weather. Here’s the latest run that’s a little farther south…

The European Model is farther north from earlier runs…

Again, the track on this system will be the determining factor on rain, snow, a combo of both, or if much of the system stays south. I vote for the southern route. 😉
