Good Thursday, everyone. Snow showers and squalls are again putting down some light accumulations across the region to start the day. This comes as part of an overall winter weather pattern that looks to stay with us through, at least, the early part of next week.

It’s likely to throw a few more winter weather makers this weekend. I will get to that in a moment, let’s start with some brief comments on today.

Northwesterly winds are combining to produce some hefty snow showers and snow squalls. I can’t rule out some local 1″ amounts showing up, especially on the grass and elevated surfaces. Watch for some slick spots!

Your tracking tools in a bit.

Another system moves in here late Friday into Friday night. This will likely bring a period of rain and snow across Kentucky, with a  swath of accumulating snow possible. I think the GFS is getting close to reality…

Here’s the slushy snow map from that run…

After a break in the action Saturday afternoon, our attention turns to a developing storm moving our way on Sunday. The exact track of the low will be the determining factor on whether you get rain, snow, a mix of the two, or mainly a miss.

The Current GFS has a very windy system bringing rain and snow to much of Kentucky…

The stronger that low can get, the more cold air it can produce, leading to a better chance for snow. There is also the chance this system stays far enough south to give us a minimal impact.

I will have updates later today, so be sure to check back. For now, let’s get you back to the present situation. Here are your early Thursday snow shower trackers…
