Good evening, folks. Snow showers and flurries continue to fly across central and eastern Kentucky, but the main focus is on two systems trying to impact our weather for the weekend.
Before that, here’s regional radar to track the evening flakes…
I have no thoughts on the light rain and snow maker coming in for late Friday into Friday night. There will be a narrow band of slushy accumulations setting up, but it’s going to be hard to pinpoint exactly where and how much because of the marginal temps.
I’m sticking with this for the time being…
The NAM looks like it’s doing NAM things and going crazy with the snow…
The GFS decided to come WAY down with totals…
The European Model agrees with the GFS and does not produce much precipitation…
The two models then split in a MAJOR way for the Sunday system. The European has noting for our region, keeping the storm weak and in the deep south…
The GFS has a strong system working across the Tennessee Valley, bringing rain, snow and wind our way…
I’m openly rooting for the European Model to be right, but it looks too weak and too far south. We will focus more on that with the late night update.
Enjoy your evening and take care.
I’m openly rooting for the GFS model for the Sunday system!
Yeah, if it is already cold and miserable, we might as well have some snow to show for it. Besides, it will not last long at all as the temps are too warm! Plus, the valley areas in SE KY are snow starved 2 years straight now, even these past two days has only brought snow accumulation to the higher mts…0 here in Harlan:(
Really don’t buy into the euro being so suppressed this time of year..Who knows..Shame we can’t get a -NAO in the heart of winter..Decides to show up in march when no one really cares..
