Good evening, everyone. Rain and snow continue to develop across the area, with the potential for a narrow swath of heavy wet snow to set up. I really have no changes to my thoughts from earlier in the day.
The Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded to include the Louisville metro…
I have no changes to my earlier thoughts and call for snowfall…
Again, those bands are pretty loose, with some north/south wiggle room. Pay close attention to the headlines on the bottom left of the map. 😉
It is interesting to note how the late day GFS went way up with totals…
The GFS is also stronger and farther north with the Sunday system…
The European Model was also farther north than earlier runs of the model…
Let’s see if the infamous northwest trend from years past comes into play later tonight and Saturday.
In the short-term, I have you all set to track the action developing later this evening…

Have a great evening and take care.
I’m ready! #bringit! Probably just a cold rain and South Carolina will get 6 inches of snow… Oh, well. Fun to hope 🙂
One thing is for sure. The Huntington Tri-State area will miss out on any snow chances. If anything cold rain Sunday.
I can’t believe some of you old timers here haven’t commented on the heavy snow on this date in 1960. Bowling Green got creamed with 18″, Louisville had a little over 9″. Lexington had a foot of snow on the ground still on the 11th of the month. Bowling Green would eventually record 32″ just for the month of March alone, all of it within the first 11 days of the month and is still the snowiest month of all time.
March 1960 is still the coldest and snowiest March ever in Louisville.
That is by far the coldest March on record in Kentucky. The monthly average for Lexington was 29.6 degrees! That beat the second coldest by over 5 degrees. That has to be the most anomalous month as far as temperatures are concerned in Kentucky history.
Heavy, wet snow now falling in north Richmond. Huge flakes.
Slush rain in north Richmond. Good thing the ground is not frozen, since would be ice piling up big time.
It was actually snowing when I posted, so……
Yep, big flakes. You would think it would stay that way and not rain. Probably will go back to flakes.
All cold rain now. Not even slush. At least no ice, so call it winning.
Your report is confirmed “in my area of north Richmond”. 😉
I just love how it’s drying up right as it gets to Louisville… and then building back in right as it gets past us. Just ugh. :/
Slush is not fun to play in or look at, so no harm n foul 😉
Patience Rachael! It is filling in out to our West.
I agree with Rachael. No need for WWA for the Metro. Now points just south it is a different story. I can see some heavy banding setting up with quick accumulations.
Yep… It filled in alright, to heavy heavy rain. Ick. My area of Louisville had about five minutes of heavy snow and then rain. Just ugh. I miss Lexington more than ever.
