Good Friday, folks. We are tracking two systems toward the bluegrass state, with the first one arriving later today. This will bring an increase in showers and storms, giving us a bit of a spring feel and look. The second system coming early next week will bring winter back into the bluegrass.
Clouds will thicken today, as temps will come in much cooler than our Thursday readings. Showers and storms will increase in the far west, then roll eastward overnight into Saturday. This isn’t a washout type of a system, but some scattered action is likely…
That sets us up with one heck of a temperature north/south temperature gradient for Saturday. Check out the highs on the GFS…
Temps level out more for Sunday, as dry skies return. That’s a pretty good looking day, but things will quickly go the other way by later Monday and Tuesday.
A couple of potent systems will work in here through the first half of next week. The first brings us showers and storms and a drop in temps. The second is right on its heels, deliver the potential for snow…
We need to watch that carefully, because it has the potential to blow up into something stronger than what the models are showing. We may go from strong storms to accumulating snows.
Speaking of accumulating snows, is there anything about the GFS 10 day snow forecast that looks like spring?
Sigh.
Here’s regional radar to track the increase in showers and storms across the far west…
I will have another update late today. Have a good one and take care.
Thanks Chris, lets all enjoy the day, because next week we may have our biggest snowstorm yet. This is a great weather pattern for the plant life by keeping them in dormancy. Make it a great day !
And how do you figure that next week has the potential to have the biggest snowstorm yet?
It’s not hard to figure that a storm is brewing for next week. I did not say it will be a hundred year record snowstorm, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out to be. Check out and follow all the weather models through Wednesday to see if this impending severe winter weather event becomes reality.
Schroeder? It’s keeping me dormant to. Have a good day.
LOL, me too
Local Mets saying next weeks storm has the potential to be a 100 year storm.
What? Who is saying that?
Interesting, I haven’t heard any of that. What is your local area? I’m in Louisville. Of course I don’t watch local news much.
I sometimes watch the Louisville meteorologist, just for fun and laughter. NBC always down plays snowstorms. It happened last Saturday evening.
Well in fairness last weekend Louisville didn’t get anything to speak of…
For what area?
Here in Eastern Kentucky we had our 100 year storm 25 years ago last week so we should be good for the next 75 years or so.
Fake news!!!!
Fake news on the 100 year storm! Cincinnati forecast next week Rain!
ok guys, you gotta remember Chris was the only one predicted last weekend snow that we got. So don’t let it fool you what will mother nature will bring.
I still have hope for a #TeamSpring revival.
It will be here in time for summer! LOL
I like the “NO” gif. Thanks for the update!
