Good Tuesday, everyone. A very stormy setup is taking place for the rest of the week and it could bring some high water issues before all is said and done. This comes as the pattern threatens to turn more toward winter, again, for the first week of April.
Temps out there today are deep into the 60s with a mix of sun and clouds to go along with scattered showers and storms…
The showers and storms really kick into high gear for Thursday and Friday, as our southwesterly flow ramps up. This is a firehouse of moisture aimed right at the bluegrass state and it can put down some very heavy rains…
Flooding issues may very well develop at some point this week.
The trend for Easter Weekend isn’t a good one, with the models now bringing the cold in much quicker, leading to a couple of ugly systems. The Canadian Model actually has rain and snow with two systems into early next week…
The GFS is even uglier with the Easter setup…
I warned you things could get a little ugly, and the above models are pretty darn ugly for Easter Weekend into early next week. #teamwinter 🙁
I will update things later today, so y’all come back.
Have a great day and take care.

On today’s date back in 1890 was a family of strong twisters across multiple states in our general area. The outbreak of March 27 1890 remains Kentucky’s deadliest day of tornadoes, including an F4 that rampaged through downtown Louisville.

Just days later, much of Indiana and Missouri were digging out from over a foot of snow. St Louis measured just over 20 inches which remains a single storm record for the city.
Thus, St Louis is yet another city that happens to have had its single biggest snow in the month of March (almost early April). Same with Nashville (March 1892). Indeed, both Chattanooga (Storm of the Century 1993, 1927) and Memphis (March 1892, March 1969) have had their top TWO snows in March when one might expect these more southern cities to have record snows in January or February. Many areas of Alabama got their biggest snows from the March Blizzard of 1993/Storm of the Century including Birmingham with 13 inches.
TennMark: I was going to post this for you on Sunday:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1965_Palm_Sunday_tornado_outbreak
I was living in Indiana at that time 1965. I was fishing that morning and it was so windy I couldn’t keep a line in the water.
I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast two hours ago and yet Schroeder can remember what he was doing on every significant weather event the day of from the 1960’s to the present.
Sometimes I like to hear stories from prior generations. They are always more interesting than mine anyhow. 😛
Weather has always fascinated me, and I think that’s why I have all the memories of all those events where I grew up. Sometimes the memories are happy and the others sad.
Hopefully there won’t be these quarrels like in past years on this blog….

They’ve said March came in like a lion and it would go out like a lamb?????
Apparently a very soggy lamb.
Thanks for the update Chris. Enjoying the longer days. I just wish we would have a week of sunny skies and temperatures in the low sixties. We will get there but who knows when. God only knows. Have a great day everyone. #teamspring
Thanks Chris. It seems Mother Nature is perpetrating a cruel April Fools joke on us. I’ve about had it with her! Time to do this….
