Good afternoon, everyone. With rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms on the way, I wanted to really hone in on the increasing threat for flooding. Several inches of rain will likely fall on the region from tonight through early Friday, likely causing high water issues.
Here’s the area I’ve outlined for the greatest risk…
Basically, the entire state has a risk for flooding, flash flooding and river flooding over the next few days. A general 1″-3″ rainfall is on the way, with local amounts pushing 4″ or a little more. That shows up well on the models…

Given how wet the ground is, and how swollen our waterways already area, flooding is a good bet before the week is over.
I would expect Flood Watches to go up ASAP…
Here are your radars to track the action in from the west…
I will have an update on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm, and will throw you another KWC update this evening.
Have a good one and take care.
Thanks for the update Chris. The closes river to where I live in central Kentucky is the Rolling Fork. Almost every spring it floods farm fields in and around Lebanon. The state needs to construct a lake to control the flooding, but I don’t see that happening.
The good ole Rolling Fork, having family in Boston Ky, New Haven and Hodgenville Ky I’m oh so familiar on how the Rolling Fork floods.
Thanks Chris. Time to get out the waders!
NWS Charleston first to go with the watch in our area…wonder what everyone else is waiting on
