Good afternoon, everyone. We are rolling through one of the coldest and snowiest days on record for the month of April. It’s spring, so the bar is set low on both, but this is one impressive blast of winter, as part of our winter that won’t end.

Tonight will be a bitterly cold night with temps dropping into the low and middle 20s, with an outside shot at some pickets of upper teens. That. Is. Cold. Highs on Sunday recover into the upper 40s and low 50s with clouds increasing from the west.

Those clouds are ahead of another system, bringing some light rain and light snow by Sunday night and early Monday…

That reinforces the chill through Tuesday, but a major swing toward warm is on the way for the rest of the week. Highs hit the 60s by Wednesday, with the 70s showing up on Thursday. We can make a run at 80 by Friday…

That’s ahead of a plains systems that may throw some strong or severe storms at us next weekend. This is part of a very active pattern, with systems rolling across the country over the next few weeks…

We are not through with cold shots, but the warm shots are getting warmer. Given this setup, my fears of a major severe weather outbreak continue to grow.

Have a great rest of your day and take care.
