Good Monday to one and all. Old Man Winter is paying anther visit to the bluegrass state early today, but spring throws some haymakers later this week. That said, the pattern for the rest of April looks to continue to epic battle between winter and spring. That spells a lot of active weather for our region.

This morning’s flakes can leave behind some light accumulations, but that will quickly go away by late morning into the afternoon. That’s when temps climb into the upper 40s and low 50s, with a mix of sun and clouds.

The chill continues on Tuesday and I can’t rule out isolated showers.

Wednesday is a transition day as winds become southwesterly. That boosts the numbers into the 60s, with the 70s surging in on Thursday. Temperatures make a run at 80 degrees by Friday as southwest winds really crank.

That’s ahead of a powerhouse of a system rolling slowly across the plains and into our part of the world. That has the looks of a severe weather maker for a large chunk of real estate…

Colder weather comes in behind this, but a quick rebound is likely early next week. Still, we are seeing the cold shots outweighing the warm shots through the rest of the month.

The GFS Ensembles 5 day temp departures from April 19-24th are impressive…

The CFS average temp anomalies for the rest of April as a whole are not good…

The more things change, the more they stay the same. 🙁

Speaking of staying the same, let’s get back to tracking the in and out flake system to start your Monday…
