Good Wednesday, everyone. We are rolling into the warmest stretch of weather we’ve had so far this spring. Of course, that’s not saying much considering how cold things have been. Temps hit the 70s in the coming days, but some spring storms are waiting to rumble this weekend. Oh, and I forgot to mention that It may snow on Monday. 🙁
Temps today hit the 60s with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds are turning southwesterly and that will spike the numbers even higher for Thursday and Friday. The Thursday numbers reach the 70s, with an 80 possibly show up by Friday. Spring lovers, rejoice!!!!!!!!
The only drawback will be from the wind. Gusts may reach 40mph at times on both Thursday and Friday.
Saturday continues to look mild, but a huge system will be working slowly in from the west. This will touch off the potential for strong to severe storms Saturday into Saturday night…
That upper level low has a lot of cold air to work with, with a blizzard possible in the high plains. In addition to severe storms, that setup may bring a general high wind event to the region as it works in here. Heavy rains are also something to watch for.
The upper low actually works right on top of us and strengthens late Sunday into Monday…
Here’s how all that plays out…
That’s just a very nasty look, with rain and snow showers possible around here on Monday, with temps crashing into the 30s.
Temps should quickly head back into the 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday, but another system will press in here with more showers and storms and a big drop in temps.
Make it a good one and take care.
Thanks Chris for the update. I hope I can get all my electrical work done before all these severe weather events this weekend. Have a great day everyone.
’tis the season…. 50 60 70 storms, temps crash….50 60 70 storms…temps crash. Gotta love KY Spring….
Looking forward to Chris summer outlook, because I’m ready for it.
Florida weather even with Hurricanes seems more stable than Kentucky weather.
That’s because Florida weather is primarily stable only exception would be a impending hurricane.
It is now the 11th of April and for the first time in my memory, there isn’t the first new leaf in sight other than the Redbuds and Bradfords. At least in my area and south, trees are normally starting to green up by this time.
Yes, I have noticed this as well. All the cold and snow has delayed the green up tremendously.. The hills look more like March 11 than April 11..
The redbud tree at my house just started to bud recently.
Coldest first 10 days of April since 2007 when Lexington was about 10 degrees below normal through the 10th.
That summer was very dry and hot, although not as much so as 2012.
Although never a guarantee in the world of weather, I agree with one your prior posts pertaining to the likelihood of a hot 2018 summer as nature will likely balance things out.
Everyone talking on Kentucky weather. I was born and raised there. I moved to northern Virginia and the weather is exactly the same if not worse. 30 one day and 85 the next.
