Good afternoon, folks. We continue to track a potent storm system toward the bluegrass state for the weekend. This system will bring high winds, a severe weather threat, the potentially for flooding and a big temp crash. Heck, we will even see a few flakes fly by Monday.

Our first line of storms works into western Kentucky later in the evening, with the potential for severe weather…

That line works eastward tonight and weakens. Central and eastern Kentucky will get in on some dry times for Saturday, but showers and storms will redevelop across the west and move eastward through Sunday. Given the setup I am seeing, we need to be on guard forĀ  a few severe storms showing up on Saturday and Saturday evening. Damaging winds and large hail continue to be the main threats…

The storms will be slow-movers, potentially putting down several inches of rain, especially in the west and central parts of the state…

Much colder air then sweeps in behind the front on Sunday, with some wraparound rain and snow showers for Monday…

A rooftop coating is even possible in a few spots. Highs on Monday may not get out of the 30s for some. What the what?

Temps rebound quickly by Tuesday and Wednesday, with 70 a possibility. Another front then sweeps in, dropping temps by the second half of the week. That’s ahead of what may become a severe weather maker next weekend.

Speaking of severe weather makers, let’s track the one that may impact western Kentucky this evening…
