Good Tuesday, friends. Our spring of discontent just keeps on bringing the winter weather hits to our part of the world. That looks to change for a few days, with a much better brand of air pushing into Kentucky. Of course, when your highs are 30 degrees below normal, anything qualifies as better. 🙂

The snow this spring is nothing short of amazing. Let me use Lexington as my focal point. It’s snowed on 15 of the 47 days since March 1st and is now the 6th snowiest on record with around 13″ (though that number is too low). March was the 6th snowiest on record and April is already the 8th snowiest.

Can we just make it stop? 🙁

Things do get better today with highs hitting the 60s in the west and south, and upper 50s to near 60 in the north. Wednesday’s weather looks even better as temps surge into the 70s on a strong southwesterly wind. That wind is ahead of another cold front dropping in from the northwest. That may have a broken band of showers and storms along it as it arrives that evening…

Winds are very gusty as much colder air moves in. If you look closely enough at the final end of that run, you will see a few flakes showing up to start Thursday morning. I’m not sold on that, but I’m not about to be against it this spring. Highs on Thursday may not get to 50 in several areas.

Milder air comes back in for Friday into Saturday as we watch a system slowly rolling eastward later this weekend and early next week. The trend with that system continues to be farther and farther south, lessening the influence on our weather. This may head into the deep south and hang around a few days, then get picked up by a deep trough digging back in here next week…

Now that things are getting quiet for a few days, I will start talking more about the end game for spring and the summer ahead.

Have a great Tuesday and take care.
