Good Friday, everyone. Our week is ending on a fairly nice note, but a blast of chill is on the way for the weekend. That will bring another frost threat into town, with even the potential for a light freeze. Hang in there, my friends, a warmer pattern continues to evolve for Kentucky Derby Week.
Temps today are generally in upper 60s and low 70s. Enjoy!!. There is the slightchance for a shower or thunderstorm, but most will stay dry…
This winds will really crank on Saturday, with a push of colder air moving in during the afternoon and evening. This MAY touch off isolated showers in the east, but the big news is the cold air coming in behind this. Lows by Sunday morning head toward the low 30s…
Green Thumbs are on high alert. Highs on Sunday may not make it to 60 across the central and east, even with nearly full sunshine.
This air is cold enough for some flakes to fly as close by as the high ground of the West Virginia Mountains…
Following another frost threat to start Monday, temps rebound quickly and really take off. This comes from a big warm ridge of high pressure across the eastern half of the country…
Temps may hit the 80s across Kentucky, with summer temps just to our south and east…
Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will then fire up by the second half of next week. Will those hang around to impact the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby? That depends on just how quickly this front moves east.
I will have another update later today. Make it a good one and take care.
Thanks Chris for the update. Autumn back to spring and then to summer. Sounds about right, but that’s what makes meteorology interesting. Have a great day everyone.
I honestly think that Irvine should change their Mountain Mushroom Festival as it seems the last weekend in April seems to have unpleasant weather conditions the majority of the time. I guess vendors are really going to have to tie down their goods once again this year.
Time to open the pool
