Scattered Storms Usher In A Summer Feel

Good Thursday, everyone. We continue to track a weak cold front across the region today and this is touching off a few showers and storms. This front will then slow down and move back to the north, allowing for a surge of very warm and humid air to move in. It’s a pattern that tries to lock in for a bit.

In the short-term, we have some showers and storms working through here today, especially this morning. A few of the storms may be strong or locally severe, but the threat is fairly low…

Skies will actually clean up pretty well later today, with some lingering action in the southeast.

Speaking of lingering action… A storm or two will again be possible on Friday as very warm and humid air surges back in. Temps on Friday hit the middle 80s in the west, with low 80s in the east. By the weekend, those numbers really take off. Middle 80s should be common, with some upper 80s showing up for some…

A cold front then drops toward the region late on Mother’s Day, leading to the potential for some big boomers…

The long range pattern through next week appears to be pretty darn active with the potential for rounds of showers and storms. Several models have also been indicating something tropical or semi-tropical developing around Florida and throwing moisture our way. The rainfall totals from the next few weeks indicate this connection…

Here are your tracking tools for the day…

Make it a great Thursday and take care.

    Sounds good to me. 🙂

The rain will be good on the my maters, and other people’s gardens they have out or just now getting out.

Thanks Chris for the update. The mid eighties for highs sounds great. For my county of Taylor, on Mother’s Day the high temperatures are forecast to approach ninety degrees. I will have to turn on the air conditioner to rid of the humidity that will build up in the house. As for the forecast for thunderstorms through next week, we will have to see what areas of the state get soaked ? Have a great day everyone.
