From Summer Sizzle To Storms

Good Saturday, everyone. Mother’s Day Weekend is here and the weather is doing a pretty good impersonation of summer. Temps are on the steamy side of the thermometer, but a stormy setup appears ready to kick in. A few of those storms may even crank before the weekend is over.

Highs out there today will top out from the middle 80s to around 90 degrees. A mix of steamy sun and clouds will be noted, but I can’t totally rule out a storm impacting northern Kentucky. This is the area closest to some big storms rumbling across parts of Indiana and Ohio. That’s where severe weather is possible today…

As that front sags a little farther south late Sunday, the potential for strong or locally severe storms may get into parts of the state. Here’s the Mother’s Day Severe Weather Outlook…

Highs on Mother’s Day look to be very similar to what we have out there today, with another digit or two on top. Sizzle, sizzle. Record highs are showing up on the European for Sunday and Monday…

The setup for next week continues to look very warm and humid, leading to rounds of showers and thunderstorms. A boundary sets up shop across the Ohio Valley, with a deep supply of moisture coming at us from the south…

Some strong storms and heavy rains are very possible in that setup. Check out the 2 week rainfall numbers on the GFS…

I have you all set to track today’s storms to our north…

Make it a great Saturday and take care.

Thanks Chris for the update. I was browsing through my weather apps. and notice that the energy to produce severe thunderstorms is to our north and an area to our southwest. This tells me that the energy is moving around the southeast ridge. Our luck however may run out later next week. Have a great Saturday everyone and enjoy our typical Ohio Valley summer weather.

Thanks Chris. Seems we are doing the winter to summer thing for now. Maybe a couple of days of Spring thrown in . Love the warmth, not so crazy about the humidity. Don’t mind a good thunderstorm but not crazy about severe. But it’s not cold, so I’m good! Have s great Saturday everyone and an early Happy Mother’s Day to all the weather moms out there!

As a grill master todays weather will be perfect to cook a slab of ribs. I’m type of guy that I don’t let any weather element snow, rain, cold or hot stop me of being outdoors and doing some cooking and a cold one in my hand. Have a great day!!!
