Record Highs Before A Stormy Setup

Good Sunday and Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there. Record setting mid-May heat has arrived across parts of the bluegrass state. This surge of Summer lasts into the early part of the week ahead, but rounds of thunderstorms will kick into high gear, bringing a heavy rain threat.

Let’s begin with out Mother’s Day and roll forward. Highs today will generally range from the upper 80s to low 90s across the state, with several record highs going down. There is the chance for a few strong storms going up across the region late today into this evening. The best chance is across the northern half of the state…

Monday looks similar to today with upper 80s and low 90s. Scattered showers and storms will be noted, with the potential for a few strong or locally severe storms.  The threat for storms will then increase through the week…

Rain totals for the next few weeks continue to be impressive…

Thanks Chris for the update. The current heat and humidity hasn’t been too uncomfortable, thanks to a persistent southwest surface wind. Here in my county of Taylor we have yet to achieve a temperature of ninety degrees and it’s a little on the dry side. Maybe later next week we will receive a good soaking ? To all the Mom’s out there HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY ! Even if your Mom has past on, she is still with you.

It kinda has a June feel as the humidity just is not at a mid-summer level though most are complaining like it is a July heatwave…not me!☺

I am still baffled as to why the models where showing May cold back during the final days of April when the oscillation patterns had already, clearly reversed in mid-April??? I have no complaints about May turning out to be an extra month of summer this year!
