Good Thursday, folks. It’s another day of showers and storms blowing up across the bluegrass state. This action continues to come at us in waves, keeping the local high water threat going. This threat increases just a bit as some Gulf of Mexico moisture gets in the mix.
There really isn’t much more I can add to what’s already been said on here for the past week. This setup has been well advertised, so just be aware of the cloudburst potential and the local high water threat.
Here are your Thursday tracking tools…
I’m a little more concerned about the heavy rain threat going into Friday. That’s when a disturbances works into the region, giving the atmosphere a little extra lift. The end result would be more showers and storms. A few more rounds of showers and storms then show up for the weekend…
The models are spitting out some general 1″-3″ rains, but really don’t take into account local amounts from thunderstorms…
The stormy setup is likely to continue into next week. Watch how the total rain numbers continue to climb…
Again, this is a setup primed to deliver additional flash flooding issues to our part of the world.
Have a great Thursday and take care.
Thanks Chris for the update. Yesterday late in the evening we received a garden variety thundershower with about one half inch of welcome rain. I believe this stagnant pattern is a result of what is currently going on in the Atlantic. The Bermuda High seems to be blocking the normal eastward movement of the weather systems. I hope this is not our weather pattern for the rest of the summer ? Have a great day everyone.
Not a drop of rain in BG yet this week! I kind of expected a washout! The weather apps keep saying 80% chance, but as the days progress, it drops farther down! We have field trips and baseball games today and tomorrow, so it will probably rain now haha!! Hopefully not though! I appreciate your blog every day, Chris!!! Coffee and kyweathercenter.com is my morning every morning lol
I was unable to access your update for Friday May 18th, 2018. Looks like the low pressure to our south is moving a little in our direction. Hope this brings the whole state of Kentucky a good soaking rain without the severe weather of course. Have a great Friday everyone.
where is your friday weather report for may 18th
Chris I sure hope you’re ok! I’ve NEVER known of a post not to be up.

Kind of scary….where is May 18th update? Chris is probably fine but still never seen this before, that I can remember????
I just tuned in on Chris’s forecast from yesterday on WKYT and there wasn’t any indication as to why he has not posted this mornings weather blog. It must be a computer problem ? I’m sure it will be resolved soon.
I think once or maybe…maybe twice before the daily update didn’t come until later in the day. Mr. Bailey, I hope you are ok.
Chris has just posted this morning’s weather blog. May 18th.
