Good Thursday to one and all. Our run of absolutely gorgeous weather is slowly coming to an end as more typical June air rolls into the region. This will include a little more steam and the increasing threat for scattered storms as we head into the weekend.

Temps to start today are deep into the 50s in many areas, with some upper 40s in the east. Humidity levels are still low as afternoon temps reach the low 80s across the central and east, and upper 80s in the west. Skies will stay partly to mostly sunny, but I can’t rule out a stray storm impacting the north…

Friday is typically toasty day across the bluegrass state. Highs will generally range from 85-90 degrees with more humidity into the mix. There is a small threat for a few showers or storms oing up by evening, especially in the north.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will then increase on Saturday and should keep going through the rest of the weekend into early next week…

That setup can also put down some hefty rain totals across our part of the world. Check out the numbers on the GFS through Wednesday…

We must be on guard for the repeat thunderstorm threat over the same areas. If that sets up, another round of high water issues could develop at some point.

Beyond the above setup, a few models continue to hint at tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico late next week into the following weekend…

Whatever happens in that setup should be followed by a deep trough developing across the eastern half of the country. That would bring in a cooler look for the second half of the month.

Have a good one and take care.
