Good Friday to one and all. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms continue to be common across the bluegrass state. This action comes as a big upper level systems swings through to start the weekend, with another system moving in to wrap up the weekend.
Today’s showers and storms will be spiraling around a surface low passing just to our north. This is just ahead of this very unsummerlike upper low.
Those storms can be strong or severe across the central and eastern parts of the state. Here’s the Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…
We continue to watch the local flash flood threat as these storms will put down a lot of water in a short amount of time. If you’re in an area that floods easily, keep an eye on water levels as the rains kick in.
The storms on Saturday will become more scattered with temps back into the upper 70s and low 80s for many. This is the day we find ourselves between systems, with another one moving in for Sunday. A few strong storms are possible Saturday, especially closer to the next system rolling in from the west…
Here’s the increase in the Sunday and early Monday action…
As another surge of heat develops across the Mississippi Valley by the middle and end of next week, we will need to be on guard for rounds of thunderstorms developing and rolling in here from the northwest…
Here is your daily dose of storm tracking toys…
Have a fantastic Friday and take care.
Thanks Chris for the update. Times of clouds and sun and a few showers dominated yesterday’s weather here in my county. I expect this weather pattern will prevail throughout the weekend ? Meteorologist out of Louisville have selected a weather model that has the entire Midwest and the Ohio Valley under the influence of a huge high pressure system built well into the upper atmosphere starting sometime next week. I’ll take this forecast with a huge grain of salt. And then again they may be correct ? Have a great day everyone.
Thanks Chris. Even in Cleveland, still watching Kentucky’s weather! Glad my part of the state finally got some rain yesterday! Hope we get some more today. But I hope it doesn’t here in Cleveland, since we have tickets to see a ballgame and go to the Rock n Roll HOF! Have a great Friday all.
