Good Wednesday and Happy 4th of July. As we celebrate our Independence Day, we are doing so with the hottest feeling air in several years. The heat and humidity will finally start to ease later this week as a strong cold front moves in.
Highs today will reach 90-95 in most areas, but the humidity will boost the heat index into the 100-105 range. Isolated showers and storms will also go up, and one or two could become strong…
Thursday is another hot one, with a slightly better chance for showers and storms. Those storm chances really increase on Friday as our cold front arrives…
Strong storms and torrential rainfall is likely with this bad boy. Behind the front comes a taste of the good stuff. Temps this weekend go below normal…
Highs on Saturday will generally range from 80-85 with low and middle 80s for Sunday. Lows both mornings may hit the upper 50s…
Humidity levels come WAY down and it will actually feel comfortable!!!!
This is likely the beginning of a much cooler second half of summer around here and across much of the country. The CFS temps through mid August show this well…
The European Model continues to signal the cooler look…
Do you think the cooler setup means a drier pattern? Probably not…
I’ll believe cooler when I see it.
Or feel it
You know it’s a hot night when Black MT only falls to 69.4 for a low above 4,000 feet up! I only reached 73 myself and already climbing quick.
Pretty sad when getting excited about a cool down for a few days means temperatures cool off into the mid 80’s for highs. In reality that’s a couple of degrees cooler than the average temperatures should be. Just goes to show how hot and humid it’s has been outside.
It looks like the front is going to try and hang up just south of me keeping Harlan in the 60s for lows. Still a nice break but not convinced it will last long.
We will just have to wait and see and only hope that the cooler and less humid weather prevails the rest of the summer. In the mean time, enjoy a real old fashion Independence Day ! As they say, or use to say ” Hot as a Firecracker. ” Happy Independence Day everyone ! And be safe.
Louisville Mets are already talking about another heat wave next week. Ugh.
Why is everybody so negative about what Chris forecast for cooler air coming. The man is pretty accurate what he sees in our long term forecast or whatever he has posted. Be positive people don’t let the devil side get to you.
Nobody is being negative and it’s no shot at Chris. Models have been off plenty of times. Reality.
Oh by the way Happy 4 th of July and stay cool.
There are a few 77 and 78 degree dew points in western Tennessee.
But Henderson County KY was earlier at an 80 dew point according to the KY Mesonet. Even with the air temperature “only” at 92, that still a heat index of 111 degrees 🙁 .
I’m thankful for having had only a half work day in the office today, but a big shoutout to first responders, medical professionals, of course meteorologists 😉 and others that are working through this holiday. As Schroeder touched on earlier, please be safe.
Definitely the hottest its been in the last six years, if I remember correctly we had a hot spell similar to this 2012.
Thanks Chris. Happy 4th of July weather friends! Yes it is hot…steamy… and humid. But it IS summertime, and we haven’t really had a lot of terribly hot stuff for the past couple of years so I won’t complain ( too much anyway). Enjoy this because before we know it, we will be dragging out the winter clothes…..
That being said, PLEASE do take frequent rests and drink lots of water or power ade. Let’s crlebrate this great country of ours and have some fun! Keep it safe everyone!
Whaa?? Bowman Field in Louisville hotter than ‘heat capital’ at Louisville International? 97 and 95 respectively. Even I have 96. My feel like temperature is 110. But we do have a nice cloud overhead.
Been smoking ribs this afternoon and its warm, no doubt. Under shade with an adult beverage isn’t too bad.
Warm!?! I hate to see what your definition of hot would be.
Pop-up shower right now at my house in north Richmond.
