Good Thursday, everyone. We’ve made it to the often overlooked 5th of July and it’s shaping up to be another hot and humid day. That said, big changes are on the way for the next few days with an increase in storms and a big decrease in temps.
Before we get to the normal post, let’s say Happy Birthday to Kentucky Weather Center. It was 10 years ago today I posted my first update on this site. In the decade that has followed, you guys have turned this into the most visited weather site in this region.
I want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you. As I’ve said from day one, you all are the backbone of what I do. In honor of our 10 year anniversary, I’ve got some exciting things planned for later this year that will take KWC to the next level. 🙂
Back to the weather, highs today are back into the low 90s with a heat index topping 100 once again. Scattered showers and storms will go up and a few could be strong. This action is ahead of a cold front dropping in from the north on Friday. Showers and storms will be likely along and ahead of the front…
Temps on Friday will only reach the upper 70s and low 80s. MUCH cooler and drier air comes in behind the front for the weekend. Lows can drop into the 50s…
Saturday looks amazing with low humidity, plenty of sunshine and highs mainly in the low 80s. Sunday will see 80-85 in most areas, with just a small threat for a shower or storm in the afternoon.
Storm chances will then ramp up early next week as humidity levels start to climb.
Let’s bring it back to today’s storms. I have you all set to do some tracking…
Have a great day and take care.
Happy birthday KWC!!
Happy birthday….
Today the thermometer at Bluegra-s-s airport was whacked, showing 97 after a shower. But I looked for the official daytime high and it was 95 (hotter than the mesonet, right?) And yet right now, at 245 am, the mesonet reads 81 F (Fayette county) warmer than KLEX. I’m honestly not sure which thermometer is correct.
Happy Birthday and Congratulations on 10 years of dedicated Wx webmastery. I discovered KWC about 8 years ago and quickly became a fan. This is my browser default page so I start each day with accurate Wx info.
Respectfully,
David aka @WhatTheMather
Happy Birthday to Kentucky Weather Center and many more to come. This forum is very educational for both the young and old like me. Yesterday the sun was out all day and the temperature reached ninety four degrees on my back porch. I would call it the prefect weather for Independence Day. For the rest of the summer we will have to wait and hope for more tolerable weather. Lets all pray that we will not experience a tropical season like we had late last summer ?
Congrats on 10 years!
Happy birthday, KWC!
Happy 10th from Ray, Ohio!!!!! I have been reading the blog since day one. (Can it be 10 years already?) You are very appreciated!! Thanks for all you do.
Congratulations – that’s a big milestone! Keep up the great work!
I don’t post a lot, but I so appreciate the time and effort each of you put in. I’m just a humble weather watcher, however I learn so much from this blog. Congratulations on 10 years, looking forward to many more!
God bless,
Machell
Happy 10 years, I found this site 3 years ago and enjoy reading it every day. Stay cool have a great day!
It’s is brutally hot outside enough is enough!! It’s 95 degrees with a heat index of 107 in my neck of the woods
Let’s put this in perspective most of us has had a good bit of rain in the past few weeks. Temperatures are still hitting the mid and upper 90’s even with a lush green vegetation. That’s rather impressive to me
Happy 10th!☺
