Good Friday to one and all. We are rolling our way into the weekend with steamy temps and an increasing threat for storms. That stormy action kicks into high gear later Sunday into early next week, with much cooler air to follow. This is all part of a fundamental pattern change, leading to the cooler second half of summer I’ve been advertising for a while.
Highs today and Saturday are generally in the upper 80s and low 90s. The west will be a few degrees toastier than that, with humidity levels adding to hotter feel. I can’t totally rule out isolated storms today, with scattered storms developing later Saturday afternoon and evening…
Showers and thunderstorms become more widespread Sunday into early next week ahead of our first cold front dropping in…
Strong storms are possible in that type of a setup, but the cool shot coming in behind it will be pretty awesome…
Another system will then dive in behind this by the end of the week, bringing more showers and storms and a bigger push of cool…
Have a great day and take care.
I will definitely take the cooler pattern for next week and for the rest of the summer. Our summer, in my opinion so far has not been that unusual for the Ohio Valley. We have and always will have hot summers and cooler summers it’s just our geographic location on Earth. Just as long as the actual temperature stays below a hundred degrees I’m good. Have a great day everyone.
Thanks
welcome
I recall near similar talk this time last week, but it was toastier than expected and not much rain. Hopefully mother nature pans out this time 🙂
BubbaG, Chris stated we would have slightly cooler couple days which we did Wednesday and yesterday the humid air was less. But it was still hot. We just gotta hang in there until next week when the much cooler air arrives.
Mid to upper 80’s is pretty much where we should be so basically we are cooling off to normal temperatures.
I”ll take this heat over 30 something days of not getting above freezing anytime…..
Agreed
I second that
I’m still waiting for summer heat…What we have had this “Summer” is nothing more than a mere tickle. Been warm and wet, but not hot.
Disagreed. Not super hot, but still hot.
I’ve had 11 consecutive days with no measurable rainfall, longest stretch this Spring and Summer. Nearby Louisville International will match its longest dry stretch at 10 days.
On this day in 1993, Barrow Alaska, one of the northern-most points in the state, reached an all-time high of 79 degrees. They have not recorded a single day of at least 70 degrees since July 30, 2009. Perhaps Louisville International could offer some free advice on how to change that.
