Good afternoon, folks. It’s a rainy day across Kentucky and we have a lot more rain to go through into the start of the new week. I wanted to drop by for a quick update on how the rest of the week unfolds as cold shots take aim at the region.
Rain ends Monday night and early Tuesday as chilly air continues. Frosty mornings a likely Wednesday and Thursday mornings as temps can make a run at the freezing mark.
The setup for next weekend has an interesting look to it with a system ejecting out of the southwest and a major blast of cold air diving in from the northwest…
That’s another healthy shot of rain with the GFS following it up with the first chance for some flakes…
Obviously, the chance for flakes are always low for this time of year, but it’s happened many times before, including multiple times this decade. We shall see about that.
The cold associated with that system is impressive, with the numbers sliding into the 20s for lows…
The last week of the month appears to be just itching for a major amplification, allowing for some big time cold to enter the country…
In the meantime, I have you all set to track the rainy rest of your Sunday…
Have a good one and take care.
I just don’t see the cold weather coming until the upper level winds die down. The winds along with high pressure is just going to keep the cold air to the north and we will be stuck in the 80s and dry for the foreseeable future. #sarcasm

In honor of Schroeder
It’s true
It’s called Indian Summer
Following suit on the above average rainfall-to-date, October looks to finish above average too. Normally our driest month if the year, this October is wet, pushing the surplus on up. I know the Harlan mesonet is an outlier due to elevation; however, it is impressive to see the total is near the 70 inch mark on the year and probably will eclipse it by tomorrow night☺. Several other valley mesonet cites are not far from 60 inches year-to-date while only a handful are under 50 inches!!!
At my house, I am at 54.54 year-to-date. Whether hot, cold, warm or chilly, 2018 has been wet and will likely be mostly remember as the “wet year.”
Thanks Chris. Going to be chilly tomorrow I guess. Question….. what has happened to the defender radar? I am only getting the storm chaser radar and I like defender better. Just askin’
The accuweather radar that’s normally used on the blog isn’t loading right either
I agree.
