Good Saturday, everyone. We have another raw day in store for many areas, with a lot more action on the way as this busy fall pattern will not let up. This busy setup includes a lot of wind for Sunday and another potent storm system waiting in the wings for Halloween. After that, there’s a winter look to the setup.
Let’s begin with today and roll ahead. Northwesterly winds will keep clouds, showers, drizzle and chilly temps across much of the central and eastern parts of the state. Farther west, the day winds up being pretty nice with temps deep into the upper 50s. The east may struggle to get out of the mid and upper 40s.
Here’s regional radar to track the northwesterly flow showers…
A month from now, we would be talking about snow showers and squalls working in on this same flow.
Sunday looks very windy with gusts that can reach 40mph at times. The day starts with some sun ahead of a cold front dropping in late afternoon and evening. That will bring some gusty showers and a storm with it, especially across the north and east. Temps will also spike ahead of the drops.
Monday looks good with upper 30s to start and upper 50s to low 60s to end.
The next system rolls in by Halloween and brings wind, rain and a few thunderstorms. This will be followed up by much colder air and the potential for another system by the weekend.

Here’s how it follows it up for late Friday through Saturday…
I will hook you up with another update later today. Have a good one and take care.
And now that this almost 8hr World Series game is over that I watched. I guess it would be a good time to go to bed and do it all over again later on today.
It was a great game. Just got up but what excellent pitching.
I gave it up after the 15th inning. I feel a nap coming on for later today.
Once I saw the Dodgers closer Jansen come in the 8th inning with a 1-0 lead I really thought the game was all but over. However the Red Sox do what they been doing best all season long and that’s put runs on the board with 2 outs. So many stories and different angles in that game a phenomenal game to watch. The pitching in that game was nothing short of incredible for both teams. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Sports and weather. I love it !
Backside snow flurries and squalls by the end of November or we could have Indian Summer. Who really knows ?
I now live 25 minutes north of Columbus ohio but i will stll follow this great blog.
Send some good snow down to far SE KY! ☺
Great area to get the big snows and they usually last more than two days.
So far, I have recorded a little over an inch of rain since yesterday and approaching 60 inches year-to-date! I will probably be at the 60 mark by next weekend based upon the current data for those healthy storm systems next week. What a year for precip!
The trees are getting some nice color in Harlan but not at peak yet. I remember growing up that the peak was usually between 15th and 20th here but more recent years have been much later for color, even going into November at times! I hope all of these wind and heavy rain events want knock all of the leaves off before they fully brighten up but probably will☹. It stayed hot too late this year which hurt the Fall Color season some too!
We need sunshine to bring out the starting Fall colors. On my walk this morning I notice some very bright colors. Maybe early next week we will have at lease one day of Sunshine. Don’t like the rain coming back, but I don’t look forward to the drought next summer and the returning heat either. Can’t win when it comes to weather.
Ummmmm…. how do you know if there will be a drought next summer?
I checked on the progress of ENSO and we are approaching a weak El nino phase from neutral phase which is the phase we have been in for over a year now. I don’t know if we will have in the way of winter here in the Ohio Valley, but in the past weak El nino’s there has always been drought conditions the following growing season. We shall see.
